De Nada, amigo. I may stay at the Barcelo this weekend (I haven't stayed there in over six months, new boss there since I was last there), I plan on inviting over amigas, never paid an extra fee when amigas and fellow mongers visited me there in the past. I checked prices yesterday, seems a room for three is the same price as the room for two (or maybe $5US more). I have an early arriving flight so free early check in with the club premium rooms is nice.

Probably best to call a taxi (Apolo Taxi is recommended, http://www.apolotaxi.com/ApoloTaxi/Bienvenidos.html, (809) 537-0000). Taxi guys who wait outside the hotels are usually more expensive. Most taxi fares should be under 200 pesos, unless its a long ride. About 42 pesos to $1US Dollar. You can change money on the second floor of the airport after you go through customs and immigration, BanReservas money exchange booth on the second floor near the elevator and escalators, also western union on the second floor of the SDQ Airport, with a slightly better exchange rate. Some places print the bill in pesos, dollars and euros and you can pay using pesos, dollars or euros (change will probably be in pesos).

Generally not a good idea to change money in the street in Santo Domingo, if guys approach you with a too good to be true exchange rate, they are scammers. There are offices where you can exchange money in santo domingo. Some ATM machines might only work if you choose Spanish as the language. Banco Leon ATMs seem to only be able to give 2,000 pesos at a time, ATM fees between the Dominican Bank and American Bank, probably over $6US per transaction. If you use a credit card, check your statement (account) on a regular basis (in the past cloning credit cards was a problem, I haven't experienced that in the last two years).

Mosquitoes I never really see in santo domingo, but you might want to bring some mosquito repellant and maybe benadryl spray or lotion in case you get a bite. Bring your own condoms. I freeze a package of hershey miniatures chocolates, that I eat in the room or hand out. Having dollar bills can be useful to give as a tip in a hotel or to chicas who may dance for you in a casa or other venue.

When you get off the airplane from the States you have to buy a ten dollar tourist card, you can also purchase it online and print it out. Taxi from the airport into santo domingo should be around $40 or less. Always confirm the price of a taxi before getting in.

If it is your first trip into santo domingo, you might want to consider a chica friendly hotel in zona colonial or near zona colonial. I haven't stayed at the Hotel Palacio in years, but when I stayed there it was multiple chica friendly. Nice Hotel located in zona colonial, close to the pedestrian street El Conde, which has shops, restaurants, cafes, some freelancers. Hotel Napolitano on the Malecon is also chica friendly, gets decent reviews, it is close to zona colonial.

A SIM Card with a Dom Rep phone number costs around $5US at Claro, you can add minutes online at ezetop, aryty or others, or purchase cards that have scratch off codes on the back of the card, dial a number, enter the code and the amount on the card is added to your sim card for calls or texting. Having an unlocked cell phone that uses GSM and takes sim cards can be used with sim cards purchased in the dom rep. Whatsapp is a popular messaging program. There are Claro and Orange shops at the SDQ airport (they will ask to see your passport when you purchase a SIM card). Orange and Claro shops throughout santo domingo.

In the casas you are not obligated to buy a chica a drink, if you want you can buy her a presidente beer, price should be under 200 pesos. I have gone into casas or p4p venues and bought a small bottle of water for around 100 pesos for me to drink.

Chicas have to have cedulas (Dominican Identification Card). Usually best not to get the police involved if there are any hiccups.

You'll have fun. Lots of good information on this site in the free section and lots more in the paid subscription section, lots of guys on this site know their way around in santo domingo and elsewhere in the Dominican Republic.

    Barcelo Santo Domingo

Might charge a fee if someone visits the room and might charge something if a guest of a guest visits the 9th floor lounge and eats or drinks there. I'll try to confirm what the policies are, on my next trip to santo domingo.

Thanks again Jao.. Ive been to DR for the 1st time in 2013 and loved it. Was surprised about the $10 tourist fee.. We stayed at an All inclusive resort called 'Grand Bahia Principe La Romana' the resort was ok but the food was terrible except for there breakfast.(no girls/massage places in walking distance) We took a taxi to Boca Chica and went to "Casa Fraisa" like 20-25 beautiful girls to choose from for $80.. not sure if I over paid.. This trip we wanna stay in santo domingo.. if u had a choice which hotel/area would you stay at Barceló, Palacio or Renaissance Jaragua ???? Again thx alot, big ups to Jao

    Muchas Gracias Amigo.

Hodelpa Caribe Colonial is multiple chica friendly, no extra fees with a double occupancy room. Free parking, free wifi, good breakfast buffet. 2 minute walk to the new Pizzarelli cafe on el conde, 5 minutes to hard rock cafe. Money exchange place next door, cigar shops across the street. Secure and safe. I paid under $100 per night and two amigas visited at the same time (they leave their cedulas at the front desk). Across the street is a liquor store bar and some chicas sit outside there and are available. Very friendly workers at this hotel.

People from Haiti, China, Europe, the States and Australia were staying there when I was there.

There are coupon codes for orbitz and travelocity (15% off and 12% off). Hodelpa Caribe Colonial Hotel has bicycle rentals (free if you book certain rooms through their website).

You will have fun and thanks again for the Big Ups.

He is always on Avenida Pasteur during the daytime, not at night. Always has a baseball cap. I have known him for years. He has a motorcycle, but you can, grab a taxi with him, to have him show you venues.

There was a guy who spoke English with a car, who used to take guys around, I forget his name and don't have his number.

Many taxi guys will know the venues (some might not know them all), sometimes a venue will pay a taxi driver or guide for bringing in clients.

Foxys, Baby Dolls, Satin Dolls, Girls House, Sky High, 305, you can walk to from any hotel in gazcue or zona colonial. Dollhouse and casa de modelos is near the Hilton, a 5 minute taxi from Gazcue. GBP, Casa Theresa, the bars on Avenida Venezuela will be a taxi ride away (for not far away locations, 150 pesos should be the taxi fare). Apolo is a good taxi company, there are others.

Also the bars on Juan Morfa (just north of 27 de Febrero have gotten good reviews). Casinos on the Malecon, Jaragua and the Sheraton (365) usually have freelancers at night.

I'll see pequeno gigante next week and ask him for a cell number or a recommended driver with a car or van. There used to be a taxi driver with a nice mitsubishi montero SUV in front of what is now called the crowne plaza hotel.

Links I posted before (photo sites of various bars in the DR), see what you like and maybe visit that bar. Avenida Venezuela can be fun and the bars on Juan Morfa (La Hebilla, Kaprich Dance Club, Flow Gallery) have gotten some good reviews.

Last trip I visited Ejecutivo for the first time, nice place that faces Las Americas Highway (highway from the airport and boca chica and other points east, into the city of Santo Domingo). I was with pequeno gigante and a friend. Inside Ejecutivo was a tall muscular Dominican guy who had brought some American guys there. He might be a taxi driver and might be found in zona colonial. I'll try to get his contact info and send it to you (I don't know what vehicle he uses, not a motorcycle).

There are also newish nice passenger vans that have a tourist taxi sign on their doors, those taxis are usually slightly more expensive. Always ask the price of a taxi before getting in (if your Spanish is not perfect, you can always confirm the price by showing the numbers on a cell phone).

My last trip, I helped a woman with her luggage to a taxi, that came to the hotel where I was staying in Santo Domingo, Gazcue. That taxi driver gave me his card and told me 1,000 pesos for the airport (about $24US) and he told me inside the city 150 pesos (about $3.60US), probably further away locations a bit more money. I'll scan his card and the taxi company flyer, he gave me and post it.

You should be able to contact Fellini through Hotel Mystik on Av Pasteur -- sounds like something up his alley. He is English speaking, from DR, spent time in the states and is decently connected.

Hotel Mystik is on Avenida Pasteur between the Malecon and Independencia. Fellini is the name of the guy I couldn't remember. Thanks.

Going just a few blocks should normally be 100DOP with a friendly driver.
Most drives in Santo Domingo proper should be 150DOP.

Anything more and you're paying gringo prices (or getting gouged by the taxi mafia at the airport). Up to you as for whether or not you're able to successfully negotiate.

Be sure to get phone numbers for the cabs you like that accept fair pricing without argument -- they tend to stay in the same hunting grounds, so it's often easy for them to swing by. There are one or two decent services, if you speak some Spanish.

    Thanks.

    LOL.

Using the Metro (2 new lines) is another option. One trip I rented an apartment in La Esperilla neighborhood of Santo Domingo (west of Maximo Gomez and south of 27 de Febrero). Met a woman online and invited her to visit there. (I have driven to women's home in Los Alcarizos, Herrera, past Villa Mella, Sebana Perdida, Santo Domingo Este, all hours of the day and night), nowadays its usually much easier for me to have them take a taxi to me. When I was staying in La Esperilla, I asked the woman where she was living, she said Villa Mella, I suggested she take the Metro, she said no problem (20 pesos each way on the Metro, with stops on Maximo Gomez, near where I was staying).

Herrera, points in Santo Domingo Este, Los Alcarizos are some neighborhoods that will be more than a 150 peso taxi fare (probably closer to double) when traveling to Pasteur and the Malecon.
