The town and the officials are finally getting what they have wanted for years. The red light district at the other end of town. They should be paying AD for the renos and greeting him with open arms. Rumba will never reopen as it once was and City Lights will close shortly after Ad opens up. So which big player is left? Classico surrounded by restaurants.
Although today.......opens a new bar called Sunset. It's located behind the now demolished D'Latinos and owned by the two landlords of that development. I have not idea how big it is or it's concept.
.
You are probably on to something
I would expect that most of the Haitian waitresses will go work for AD once open and many of the customers from City Lights will follow
If AD can keep it open it will likely be a success
City Lights will either become the ghost town that it was before AD brought it back to life or it might potentially morph into what the old Rumba was before it closed
There are some common players from Rumba now at City Lights
Things are always evolving in Sosua and will be interested to see how it turns out
I am the pussy licker Let's have some fun. Not invisible. Snitches are pathetic little people!

I'm not so sure it's what they want. Several years ago, Fred from cubre libre along with other bar and restaurant owners tried to get them to move the red light district down to that end, but were met with resistance. I think it all comes down to who pays the most, period!
It's because his European mates that support the business year round only want Haitian girls who have recently found a way to cross the border. That and the fact he can let go the legal ones (mostly Dominicans ) before 3 months, and the illegal ones he can keep as long as he wants without any repercussions. Also, he knows what his friends are helping ($$$) the core group of girls for services on the side, so he doesn't have to pay them a decent wage, while reminding them his business is the reason they are able to make tips and side work
I dont know the question, but sex is definitely the answer.
Ahh, Cuba Libre Bar. Bring back memories when Sosua was the greatest place in the Western Hemisphere.
i wonder what's Fred been up to? The last I heard that he's somewhere in the Philippines. also heard he comes back to Sosua visiting from time to time. Has anyone seen or heard from him?
Looks like it could end up being a pretty nice place

AD WILL REOPEN RANCHO TIPICO ( From Sosua News)
The cooperation between Ad with his fellow companions Peter and Mark came to an end. The three renovated and reopened the High Caribbean disco - nightclub which had been closed for over 10 years. On Thursday, May 25th the opening of the beautifully decorated nightclub took place. But the three soon found out there were too much differences in their management style. So Ad decided to leave on good terms. Ad will first take a few days of vacation and then he wants to try to reopen his Rancho Tipico bar-disco again in the Pedro Clisante.
If he succeeds it will be good news for Sosúa.

Perhaps we should rename this thread "Ad re-opens Rancho Tipico"
I hope he can get that place up and running again. I liked how it had a nice, neighborhood feel about it. Not some huge, nightclub atmosphere, just a bar with a tropical motif, thanks to that thatch roof, where you can simply show up, order a drink, enjoy the setting, easily chat up a staff member or one of the chica patrons, just chill out and see what the night brings.
Very casual and laid back which a lot of guys prefer. When you mix in the size, music volume, setting, food, indoor/outdoor seating areas, staff, drink prices and overall ambiance, you create a place where people feel comfortable and either going alone or with friends, it becomes a spot you want to repeat in going.
And whether you have mixed feelings about Ad himself or not, I always figure when going there, there are a lot of locals working that might otherwise not have a job, and your patronage is helping to support them.
Hope Rancho springs back to life.
Maybe all this turnover of events ends up for the better.
I mean , if Ad actually is able to keep the original Rancho Tipico open, local expats have two places with the same vibe to choose from ( the other one being City Lights).
I bet Ad will not change the winning formula that got him the success he had with the first Rancho Tipico.
The only down side is that having two places like that during slow season will be difficult, they will either both have enough business to barely survive or one will succeed and the other will die..
Only time will tell.... More options are always a good thing though...
Anybody has any idea of the opening date for this new place?
