I accidently locked my Orange SIM card. Help!!

I input my 4 digit pin code incorrectly three times and the phone is now asking for a 10 digit PUK code in order to unlock the SIM.

Does anyone know how I can obtain the PUK code?

    Before you answer:

    1. I bought the sim card in 2004. I don't want a new number and I need to get to my contacts
    2. The sim card is not under my name, so I can't just call Orange for the code. I believe the store (which is now closed) activated the sim card under the owners name

INbox me for any information you don't want to give out in an open forum. Thanks

Thanks, but I was looking for a response more like; "go to pedro clisante, make a right and then a left, look for the colmado and there's a green door right next to it. Knock three times and wait for the slot to open. Ask for Jose and tell him Bruno sent you".

Is the German's place still open? That'd be my first stop if it is.

Re: I accidently locked my Orange SIM card. Help!!

Doing some "googling" and found this suggestion:

    1. It is a good idea to keep a record of your IMEI number. To view the IMEI number enter the code *#06# .
    2. Then with this number contact your local service provider and they will be happy to help you obtain your PUK Code.

An Orange store/dealer should be able to help you or if your Spanish is strong enough, or if you can get an English speaking operator, you could do it yourself.

Otherwise it seems you will need the personal info you don't have access too. Lo siento

unless you have the original package the sim came in, only orange can give you the PUK.

Forget this, I should not try to post something at 5:30 AM without any coffee.

So I walk into the Orange store in Sosua this past weekend. I was all prepared with my true story as to why the sim card isn't under my name and how desperate I am to retrieve my phone contacts, even if they won't activate the card for me because I can't prove it belongs to me.

And guess what?? The chica didn't even ask one question. All she said was, "dame tu numero". She punched my number in the computer and reactivated the sim card. She reset the pin and code numbers and wrote then down for me if it ever happened again. No charge!

At times I forget it's DR where corruption, ignorance and pure laziness sometimes works in your favor.

while you are there, you should set up internet access to your orange account via the internet.

I registered the one that I have. I go to the orange site and put minutes on it. If you put 400 pesos
or more on the phone at one time, then the minutes do not expire for 90 days...

I'll be honest with you. In this country I don't think I want anything in my name.

You can copy the contacts from the sim card to a cell phone's memory (at least with ATT sim cards, I use a Claro sim card in the DR, I have never used an Orange sim card) and vice versa (can be useful if you use various different cell phones, although I believe there might be a limit to number of contacts that can be stored on a sim card). For Android there are free sim card contacts applications. On my old Nokia E71, which is the phone I use everyday, (non-android) you can copy contacts to and from the sim card to the phone's memory. With Nokia Suite you can sync the phone with a computer and have all your contacts from your cell phone in your computer.

aryty.com is another site to add minutes to a DR pre-paid number.

You can transfer your DR number to a new sim card.

Claro Sim Card with a DR cell phone number costs about 160 pesos (about $3.80US), might include some minutes. Passport has to be presented when you purchase a SIM Card in the DR. I purchased several sim cards over the years with Claro in the Dom. Rep. and presented my passport. Western Union also requires you to present your passport to exchange money and many hotels will make a copy of a passport at the time of check in.

Claro is part of América Móvil, whose Chairman Carlos Slim (born in Mexico City, Mexico) was ranked as the richest person in the world from 2010 through 2013.

Yes, I use that one sometimes too when I forget to bring the Orange recharge cards when I return home.
