Plenty of Russians and Russian owned businesses in Sosua and Cabarete. Not many in other parts of the DR as far as I know, though I could be wrong on that. So you should fit in easily. In which town will you be staying?

People from Spain, France, Italy, U.S., Germany and South America in Santo Domingo, Cubans and Cuban Americans. Haiti and China too (some Brits and Canadians). Some New York Russians in the beach towns and Casa de Campo. Met a Ukrainian Cubana last trip in Santo Domingo and a woman from Poland who was with her 20 year old daughter.

The Dominican Cricket Association has received generous support from the International Cricket Council of the Americas.

The Dominicans are ever inventive in new ways of bumming off others.

Cricket came over to DR with immigrants from British controlled Carribbean islands, many of whom settled in San Pedro de Macoris. Seems the more current interest in Cricket is from people from India and Pakistan who live in Santo Domingo or who are descendants of people from those countries. As well as from people from the UK and some islands that were once controlled by Britain. From the article you quote from; "The Dominican Cricket Association was founded in 2006 in Santo Domingo the capital of the Dominican Republic, composed mainly of cricketing superpowers like India and Pakistan who are now living and studying in the Dominican Republic. There is however a slightly longer cricket history than a mere few years in the Dominican Republic. Not surprisingly the answer lies in the “Cocolo” connection." Sports trying to grow their fan base and spending money to do so, is nothing new (National Basketball Association in China, National Football League in Great Britain, are two examples).

The original poster said he was from Russia and never mentioned that he was interested in seeing other Russians in the DR.

Your negative stereotype of some Dominicans, is not surprising coming from you.
