I took a chica to Dulce Secreto for a late night rendezvous after Bar Central Hotel was closed and it was totally occupied. Two Policia Nacional officers pulled up in a moto and I asked them for assistance and I followed them to the Romanoff Hotel on Calle Ayumiento across the street from Cabrini Green.

The Romanoff Hotel is a residence for locals and a regular hotel where you can rent rooms by the night. I paid 700 pesos for a room with 2 beds a desk and a balcony. There was no air-conditioner or television and the small bathroom only had 1 towel. The room had a fan and I kept the balcony door open which provided a comfortable breeze. This is no Dulce Secreto as there was no candy, soap or porn channels. There is was a late night attendant sitting on a chair outside who showed me the room and took my money. I had condoms in my car but the attendant offered to go somewhere and buy condoms if I needed them.

The advantage to this hotel is that when you rented a room it wasn’t for a few hours like Dulce Secreto it was for the entire night so you could come and go as you please but they could do better with the 1 towel ration.

I remember one day when my favorita was having some plumbing issues at her apartment ,,with nasty smells filling her place up,,and the landlord saying she couldn't get the guy to come fix the problem until the next day.

So I told her to go to Hotel Romanoff for the night cuz it was cheap,,,,as I seen it on Booking.com for around 1000 pesos or $22,,,,,,

Her reply was "Tu loco Daveed ???,,,,,es no bien,,,es mucho mafiosa,,mucho drugo y nada bien chicas gusto problemas. y, mi no gusto personas tratar robar mi."

She then said i'll try and go my sisters for the night,,,but if I cant, I'd rather stay at my place and deal with the smell than stay at the romanoff,,,,

That about sums it up. I still stay there from time to time if I only need an overnight. I've gotten to know the owner and manager. And I try to navigate around the craziness. But I'd never recommend staying there. Not even for one night.
