    Calypso Hotel- Calle Ayumiento Sosua

Sometimes Dulce Secreto is not available due to all the rooms being occupied so I am seeking Sosua cabana options. Calypso Hotel is located on the opposite end of Calle Ayumiento where the Romanoff Hotel is across the street from Cabrini Green.

The Calypso Hotel is a residence for locals and a regular hotel where you can rent rooms by the night. I paid 500 pesos for my room but another monger reports he paid 300 pesos…can you say “CONYASO!” The room had 1 bed with a horribly uncomfortable mattress, fan, TV that was unplugged and an atrocious bathroom. In the bathroom the toilet didn’t have a seat the bathtub was grey in spots instead of white porcelain. The shower had no shower head so the water just blasted out and there was no cold water.

I have heard better reports but I was not satisfied and although I do not care for Dulce Secreto’s strict rules it is a far better option at only 100 pesos more. I can’t speak for others but this is NOT my favorite spot in Sosua.

300 pesos was the regular rate 5 years ago

300 RD was what I paid in the first part of June 2015 but I was with a chica who I think uses the place quite often.

It is possible that I just got her rate even though I paid for it.

I know if I ever go back I will plan on paying 300 RD.

I agree it is not the nicest place on earth but I felt safe there and it was fine for a S-T excursion.

I have never been to the bar central rooms so I don't know how it compares but the location for Calypso is pretty good being not to far from the strip but also out of the way a little bit.

It wasn't my Amiga. I bring her to my hotel but she probably uses the place to.

    It was her friend.

The friend did not have her ID on her that night so it would have been a problem for her to get in at my hotel
Plus I had to keep it somewhat discreet to stave off a beat down between them.

Although by the end of that trip my Amiga was no longer my Amiga anyway.
At least until the next trip
