    Woooooooosah...ok I feel better now...
Or, you can buy 10 chicken nuggets for 80 pesos. That's a 1.70 for 10 nuggets.
If you think it's love try not paying in the morning..

That's a great pic. Now I can send it to a amiga in Santiago to tell her what # hers looks like . Before I just sent her a cartoon photo of Homer Simpson's mouth....lol!

    La Sirena Cafeteria

There are 2 major supermarkets in Puerto Plata, La Sirena & Jose Luis. I spend more time in La Sirena but Jose Luis is in que.

I eat lunch or dinner at La Sirena Cafeteria pretty frequently. Recently I was standing in line waiting for a tray I was next to receive a tray when there was a shift in the line because everybody was jockeying for some trays a lady walked ahead of me and snatched 2 trays. The lady who was behind me ended up in front of me and she got a tray for me. Dominicans can be some of the RUDEST people I've met but I was glad there was someone there with basic common courtesy.

They have a great salad bar but you have to get there before 3pm before the pickings are slim after that. You can eat an entrée salad bread and drink for about 250 pesos.

Any talk in the streets about the price hike of Platanos? I know that's a survival food item in that country. An amiga of mine said they went from like 7 pesos to the 30's. That's crazy!!!!

A that is not the price all over the country. But it has doubled just about every where. Where my apartment is in Mao. They went fr ok my 5-8 pesos per platano to 13-16. In LA Vega /Bonao. From 5-8 to about 20. I believe in the capital it's higher. However my prices reflect a per platano price. I have no idea a per pound price. BUT PEOPLE ARE VERY UPSET.

I don't think an expat would notice. But for the poor, like you said, this is a staple for their diet. Now it's much more expensive. .

Here in LA a lot of folks, me included, get their ripe bananas from 7/11. The cost is 2 for $1. If that price increased to 2 for $6, which is the equivalent of from 5 to 30 pesos, he'll yeah I'd notice to the point where I wouldn't be buying bananas from 7/11. I have that option, poor Dominicans don't. That's crazy. Why does any item, other than pharmaceuticals, go up by 300 to 600%.

Meant to write , I doubt an ex pat would even notice. They definitely wouldn't feel it like a Dominican would..

    Santo Domingo Clubs

I met a Santo Domingo casa chica a while back we had a casa session and had a date outside the casa sex was okay but I decided not to take it further since she lives in Santo Domingo. I have been hanging in Classicos watching the chica show and who walks in???? She says the casa closed down and she needs work. I asked about Santo Domingo clubs like Classicos and she advised of the following:

    • Gold inside Hotel Princess Avenieda 27 de Febrero 315, Santo Domingo.
    • Euforia Av Venezuela 15, Santo Domingo.

She advised chicas are getting 5k at the above listed clubs but she doesn't want to work there because it's too close to home. I gave her Sosua prices so we will see how well she does. I know she needs to make some money because she says her room with another chica is costing her 500 pesos a day. I kinda like her so I might hit again but I am not sure.

    Amber Cove Cruise Center

Amber Cove is in the Bay of Maimon just outside the city of Puerto Plata and is Carnival Cruise Lines newest port. I decided to take a visit but since there was no ship at port the venue was locked down. They have done a pretty decent job with the interchange that leads to the property.

I would bet that security was super tight when that first ship came in on oct 6

The group of cruise ship passengers we saw on sosua beach had 2 cestur following them around

ambercove.com has a schedule of when the ships arrive. Not much more this month but really picks up the first of the year

I don't think you will be able to get in, period. Admittance solely for cruise ship passengers, employees of Carnival, and port staff. That is what I have heard about other places like Amber Cove.
