I have had a Charles Scwabb Debit Card since I arrived. I do not have a Dominican bank account I use it for my cash needs. Every month the transaction fees are re-deposited in my account so it works out real well for me. I use the same bank that is close to my house with the ATM inside the front doors but it only dispenses 500 peso notes. Recently I discovered the outside ATM dispenses 1000 peso notes which I prefer. About 2 weeks after I started using the outside ATM I went back and got a message "check with your financial institution." When I checked I saw the previous day there were withdrawals totaling just over $1000.00 at different ATM's in Dominican Republic that were not familiar.

I reported the fraud and within a week the money was reimbursed to my account and the following week my new card came. Going forward I will try to use indoor ATM's but I wanted to share Charles Scwabb gets good marks from me. The only thing they don't have that would be advantageous is e-mail alerts when a transaction is made; had they had that function I could have caught the fraud much earlier but the fraud investigator said they are considering that procedure going forward.
Just to add a quick note to add to the sentiment that the Schwabb customer service is great. When I was down there, I wasn't sure if a transaction went through or the ATM was just out of cash. Schwabb has a collect international number to call. I called and was talking to an actual person in less than 2 minutes from a DR line. Just a great card all the way around!

    Tenga Cuidado

Carribe Kid posted this photo in his thread. Although I have no experience in the matter I am almost certain this character is a man dressed as a woman. There are about 3 of them that can be seen on Pedro Clisante on a regular basis. Tenga Cuidado!

    Monger Ethics

There is a auto/tire/ car wash within walking distance of my house. I go there frequently for car washes and service to my vehicle. Recently I had to replace 2 rear shock absorbers the parts were about 6500 pesos and the labor was 800 pesos. My vehicle is riding smooth now for the equivalent of approximately $162.00...GTFOH...are you serious? Car washes at this establishment are 150 pesos and the do an EXCELLENT job! Sooooooooooo uhm lyke $3.00 for a car wash REALLY??? That is about $20.00 back home!

This shop is a family run business there is the mother who runs the cash register one brother who runs the mechanic shop and the other brother who runs the car wash and the sister who fills in.

I have only been living in the Dominican Republic a short time but I have come to have a basic distrust of Dominicans but these people thus far have been very fair with me, even providing some minor service gratis almost like American customer service. In addition the brothers have become very friendly with me I feel a sense of affinity toward them for their business integrity.

Initially the sister would mean mug me, no saludos no nada! However recently she has been smiling and greeting me very warmly. Recently when she sees me she smiles and says "y usted?" in such a sexy voice I feel like screaming! I give her a 7 but she has that subjective quality that I find attractive.

    Ethical Dilemma

My US ethics says don't mix business with pleasure. A good mechanic you can trust not to rip you off in the Dominican Republic is a premium however I am getting a more personal vibe from her now that I have become regular in the shop. It's probably not a good idea to ask her out but if she keeps up with the "y usted " sexy voice stuff I am going to pull the trigger.

Another ethical dilemma I have is La Sirena employees. I shop there regularly and there are a half dozen employees that I find attractive. One in particular mean mugged me in the beginning like the chica above at the car wash but the last time she checked me out she looked dead in my face and gave me a BIGGG SMYLE!

    Assessment:
Many civilian Dominicanas have very little trust for gringos just like we have very little trust for them but after they think they know you it's on and poppin!

Ok back to the ethical dilemma I am pretty certain most La Sirena employees are familiar with one another so if I hit on one and it doesn't work out and I decide to take a stab at another it could be a problem going forward. Regardless I am probably going to pull the trigger at La Sirena also and see how it unfolds.

Daymn, I never knew retirement would be sooooooooooooooooo STRESSFULL!...

You don't want it to work out. That means you are now a boyfriend and you don't want that. The La Sirena chicas now realize because you come there so much that you actually live there vs a horny short term tourist trying to get some cheap, quick pussy. So now the competition begins. Yes, you can fuck them all but don't even think about a mass orgy cause that ain't gonna happen. You gotta take them down one by one separately and privately. Best option is to collect phone numbers and texting info and avoid the long public conversations in the store. Having lunch with one of them in the café upstairs can bite you in the ass. The 1st date is at your house for lunch or dinner. Hopefully they will bring and serve dessert!

    Tenga Cuidado

I was with the below listed chica (Gabby)who is from Higuey earlier this year. I met her in Rumbas we vibed well and took her to my place in Los Cerros we had a good session with no drama. I had her whatsapp and tried to reach out for her but she failed to respond.

Now it is being reported in another monger group that she met someone in Santo Domingo drugged him and took some of his belongings to include his cell phone and tablet. He is reported to have filed a police report. As in all warnings tenga cuidado and play at your own risk.

    Que tipo toto te gusta?

IMHO the covered camel toe is one of the most beautiful things on earth because the toto is hidden behind a garment but what is hidden can take many shapes and sizes. I think I am leaning toward #2 as my favorite type.

Kviar is the same venue as the old Pure with a new name. I have been going to Kviar Dance Club frequently since I moved to Puerto Plata it is a pleasant diversion from Sosua and Classicos. The club puts you in the mind of Classicos but it is much smaller with 2 levels and several VIP areas. Security is every where big Dominican dudes wearing black suits walk through the crowd making sure everything is copasetic.

There are several differences between Kviar and Classicos the first being all the women that go are not working. Some are hanging with friends celebrating some type of event and others are with dates. On any given night there might be 5-20 women who are obviously working the club as opposed to Classicos where you might have as many as 100 women in the club all of which are working. The talent level varies especially depending on the night. Some nights it is obvious that the chicas are around the way girls then other nights it is obvious by how the chicas dress and carry them selves that they are high end chicas.

I will continue to investigate but what I have discovered is that Kviar is not a discount location for PFP like Rumbas, I doubt very seriously if any women will leave with you for 1500 pesos. One reason being is security expects a propina from the chicas if they are seen leaving with a client. I have been told the propina starts at 1000 pesos and upward. Second some of the chics are from Santiago and as Uncle Rukus has shared with us Santiago PFP is not cheap. The talent level varies but I have seen some strong 8's in there that will definitely give you something to think about. I would start at 2000 pesos and I wouldn't be surprised if some chicas there will not leave for less than 4000 pesos.

Kviar is less than 5 minutes from my place so I plan to visit quite frequently, another thing I failed to mention is occasionally I have seen Sosua pros on dates or working solo. Some Sosua pros actually live in Puerto Plata so unless they have an aversion to working where they live it actually makes more sense to work at Kviar.

    Kviar Update

One of the differences between Kviar and Classicos is it's diversity, the Casino is next door to gamble or to chat in a more laid back atmosphere. Despite the availability of the Casino the night club remains the man attraction. On the weekends there is a 150 pesos cover charge and they give you a drink card valued at the same amount. This would be another difference between Kviar and Classicos because at Classicos the cover charge is 200 pesos everyday of the week and you get no drink card.

When Kviar was Pure it had more of a touristy feel but recently I have noticed a very strong Dominican presence, in fact it has become the premier location for Puerto Plata Dominicans. Therefore if you don't feel comfortable around Dominicans you will not enjoy Kviar. It is not uncommon especially on the weekends for the men to outnumber the women.

Kviar has surprises in the chica department there is the regular crew that show up consistently but then there are others who only come occasionally. I have recently seen one of the chicas in my Puerto Plata network there with her friends whether she was there to work or for fun is any ones best guess.

Another interesting phenomenon is since the tourist crowd at Kviar is down some of the Puerto Plata Kviar chicas are going to Classicos looking for work. In fact one night I was at Classicos I saw one of Kviar's finest and 2 hours later after I left Classicos I stopped in Kviar on my way home and guess who was on post?...yes the same chica.

My biggest complaint would be the crew is small and not diverse like Classicos however there are some definite 8's that come through on a regular basis.

    Burger King Rant!

The only major US restaurant that I know of is Burger King which is close to where I live. Occasionally I get the taste for a flame broiled burger, recently I went in there and spent 500 pesos for a combo but I can go across the street to the food truck and pay 150 pesos for the equivalent minus the flame broil!

    Woooooooosah...ok I feel better now...
