Thank you, Wayne ... I have to confess, the meal I remember most fondly in the DR was the "pollo asado" grilled over the coals in a cut-in-half 55-gallon drum up in the farther reaches of Calle Pedro Clisante!

In Sosua most of my meals are Dominican food and I keep to around a 200 peso meal budget.

In BC, I spend a little more because I feel safer with Italian food because you have to get Dominican food early in the day or it's not so fresh. The restaurants don't make a lot of food or keep replenishing it like they do in Sosua. Good thing about have a microwave at the hotel was that the times that I did feed chicas, I took the leftovers back with me and had a good meal before going out at night, so it was worth it.

I 'am not sure if it's accurate to say the chicas do not enjoy a good meal. The alternative is to have sex for free with a Dominican, eat arroze con un chin de pollo & drink Presidentes or have sex for thousands of pesos with a gringo eat camarones & drink Coronas.

It is not just the money the girls have a problem walking away from it's the lifestyle they would not have apart from dealing with gringos.

    My second visit

On my second visit I tried the salmon with red beans and rice

This salmon dish comes with shrimp but since I do not eat shell fish I passed. The salmon was tasty however the red beans and rice were not as flavorable as the first time. My dish was 700 pesos.

The service was a little slow and my waiter was AWOL when I was ready to pay. This time I saw there were a few seats on the side walk for those who wanted to eat and enjoy the foot traffic.

I continue to enjoy the music and the overall atmosphere so I will return frequently when I am in the mood.

Bourbon Street Restaurant during the day

When I have some errands to run in the Sosua area sometimes I stop by Bourbon Street Restaurant during the day. The vibe is different it is not as busy and definitely muy tranquilo.

One of the things that has become popular is sitting on the sidewalk for chica watching while you are drinking or dinning. It is more popular at night to watch the chicas walk by and put on a show for you.

The English speaking staff is generally very professional.

The breakfast is decent however most breakfast plates are 300 pesos and above you can get similar breakfast plates for around 200 pesos if that makes a different to you.

They made some improvements to the restrooms which was very needed. There are many great dinning choices in Sosua and Bourbon Street is one of the best IMHO.

    Not a good thing

Is that the type of thing that gets them closed for good or is it more they pay the tax and pay a penalty and are allowed to reopen?

With their ties to ahnvee resort I wonder if they will be next in the cross hairs of the dept of taxation

Re: 02/2016 - Bourbon Street Restaurant

I wonder how much money this is involving ?
Not a good idea to speculate . so i wont..
but if this is the VAT tax, and was never paid..

ayyyy chiii chiiii.... that is gonna HURT... real bad..

or it could be just extortion to squeeze money out of them. who knows..

but one thing for sure . imo
one would have to have his head examined to open a NEW Business on Pedro C these days ..
or you just dont care if you make money or lose money.

They are completing the sidewalk project on that side of the street now. Been a mess for a month or so.
