El Batey, Boca Chica

El Batey is one of the premier night spots in Boca Chica it's an open air venue with a bar and dance floor with seating throughout the venue.

There is a mix of music played between salsa, bachata and merengue and of course reggeton.

El Batey is also known for its dance competitions individuals will compete with one another and everybody will surround them and cheer them on. El Batey reminds me of Kviar in Puerto Plata in that all the chicas are not working in fact it is a regular Dominican hang out spot especially on the weekends. Generally speaking if you look for eye contact and how the women are dressed you can tell who is working and who isn't but sometimes you just have to take a risk offer a drink and see where it goes from there.

Generally El Batey doesn't get cranking until after 1am and depending on the night the ratio of men to women can be 50/50.

There are some differences from the El Batey of the past the most notable is it appears as if Haitians are being discriminated against. One Haitiana chica came behind me and security would not let her in. I was told that some Haitians are being charged to get in and some are being turned away. The other difference is there are Venezuelans in the house! While I was there I saw two separate groups walk in and I was thoroughly impressed, unfortunately I made my choice for the night otherwise I would have tried to sample.

The bottom line El Batey is a to do spot if you are in Boca Chica.

Yes it is a problem, the discrimination policy against Haitians, no bueno. I heard about it for some time now, but noticed it for the first time when Camaro and I went into the club. I had been hanging out in another spot with 2 dominicanas and a haitiana, actually was attracted more to the haitiana, she was cute. I wasn't ready to call it a night just then, plus had plans to meet up with Camaro, so told the chicas to meet me at el batey.

As I am sitting there the two dominicanas come up to me all upset. They tell me the three of them tried to enter the club, but they refused entry to the haitiana. I went down to talk to security, and normally they never give me a problem, allowing me to enter with drinks from other establishments etc., (which they won't allow others to do). But this time they stood firm and wouldn't allow her upstairs. I guess I could have paid their extortion price, but I chose not to do that, and she stayed outside.

I'll bet that Aruba and Sint Maarten are seeing higher than the normal number of Venezuelans in the bars and cat-houses. I'd sure like to hear from boots-on-the-ground at those locations.

I actually visited a friend en el caucho last night, I was speaking to the manager there, she told me they have 26 rooms on site, and most are filled with Venezuelans right now. As I sat there saw mostly Venezuelan guys, but saw a couple of cute chicas stroll through, and sat and had a beer with one. The two chicas I met in El batey, told me they were staying in the Mango hotel, some are selling items others of course are selling get their ass. They get a two month visa to come here, don't know hat happens if they exceed their visa.

He said that it was something being done strictly by the security, to try and illicit money. He said the owners had no idea that it was going on nor sanctioned it. If that was the case, I asked why no one brought it to one of the owner's attention.. He had no answer.

One of the Haitian chicas had another reason, she said the some Haitianas were caught doing coke in the club.

I don't know which one is more accurate if either reason, but I do know the three chicas with me and the other guy got in without any problems.

Hey Yayow, How has the market adjusted with the influx of Venezuelans??

Down here... we mostly have Colombians / DR / Jamaicans but with the influx of Venezuelans, the DR girls are trying to position themselves as more elite...
I think its more that the Venezuelan girls are trying to be more friendly to solicit more customers... but I was shocked at the response from the DR / Colombians...

as for the JA girls... they dont give a fuck... they arent competing in the light skinned market...
