Wow put grass and palm trees on that side, it is a nice look. Now only if they can get it to open.

    Re: 03/2017 - RUMBA BAR

It's been listed for sale on the Internet for several years. The 'property for sale' signs went up late winter early spring. Now that the sidewalk is torn up on the other side, girls are congregating on rumbas stoop.

He must own the real estate it's sitting on. Everyone in Sosua thinks their property is worth about 4 times it's actual value. I have a friend there who says he'd sell his house for 1.2m, and it's really not worth more than 150K tops, even though he has about 1200 meters of land.

Then again, he thinks of it as a "tear down", like somebody is going to buy it for 1.2 then tear it down to build a tower.

Sosua's mayor says that 2 mil is a bargain, especially when the city needs a children's park for the 10's of thousand of family visitors that are about to vacation this season

Over the years since I've been coming down, on occasion I check out the real estate sites for what various properties are going for down there, not commercial businesses but residential...villas, condos and apts. It seems that on the low end of things, say under $75 grand, there are some sales happening in the condo and apt complexes in town but the higher end properties always seem to move much slower.

Since you've been down there so long and seem to know the trends more than most, is the North Coast overall a good market for investment or are there other, more attractive spots in the country where sales are more active?

I would assume that the Punta Cana area is where the majority of higher end properties sell the quickest.

I'm no expert on real estate, but I have a couple of long time friends who are RE agents, and they both have said the North Coast is the slowest they have ever seen it, and they've been here for decades.

Problem is, folks around PP, Sosua and especially Cabarete think it's a sellers market judging by what they're asking.

Santo Domingo and the East Coast are the two that seem to be moving the most.

I remember years ago when I used to look at houses in Casa Linda that were running in the 60's-70's. I should have bought one back then.

I think values are going to drop a lot more up north in the next few years..

A few pictures of the current remodeling at Rumba. Word is they are trying to be open for the Super Bowl.

The new renter is from Bermuda. He's been trying to open for the past 2 months and hasn't been successful. He keeps saying that he has the cash to buy the place, but he still hasn't produced any real money.

Did you get any inside shots? Outside is looking rough, but a lot of that can be cleaned up in 3 days. I'd love to see what inside is looking like.

The inside looks pretty much the same, but I will try to take a few more pics today and post them later.

So Bob still owns the place?

I figured it had been sold

If still foreign ownership as well as foreign renter they probably won't be open long assuming they ever get open.

I bet the powers that be are licking their collective chops right now

Bobby never sold the place, but he wants to. This new guy needs to produce the money, but for now he's only renting. I doubt he ever opens unless it's a full menu restaurant....cause Sosua needs another one

I heard Rumbas will open on Monday. They wanted to open for the Super Bowl, but they couldn't. This is just what I heard. But we shall all see.
