But if they want a job than they need to coexist

I think that is one of the reasons (there are several) that turnover is and will be so high there

The reality is that some are hired to actually work and provide what would be considered normal camarera services and others are hired to dance
and we all know there are some hired for other reasons

It's no secret that many of those girls don't last to long because they are taken off the market

If you have hung out at Ranchi Tipico and City Lights you will notice there are a few specific girls that do the bulk of the camarera services and others that are kinda just there.

Ad wants a variety of chicas to work there and if they don't work to his satisfaction they won't be there to long.

But there will always be a long list of chicas that will give the place a try.

With the supply of men visiting Sosua ever dwindling the competition the men is fierce as ever and the number of chicas that go home without a date every night is ever increasing and as a camarera they have a captive audience.

It will be interesting to see how it all works out for many of them since they are planning to stay open until 6am which is going to eliminate an awful lot of potential suitors
How will they get away with staying open until 6Am? Aren't they a comparable venue to Classicos, which closes at 2:00AM even on the weekend? What time will they open? Late evening around 10:00 or late night, around 1:00? Any clue to the weekday hours, vs the weekend?

Sorry, just asked the same question later in the thread.

    .
Not exactly sure but it seems to have something to do with their location

Those earlier closing times only seem to apply or should I say is enforced in the strip area of Sosua

Everything in Cabarete stays open late nearly every night

The disco at the playa chiquita casino which happens to be very close to where High Caribbean is does not open until around 1am-3am ish.
What I have been told is that once things get going they will open at 6pm until 6am

They will have a full service restaurant outside with the disco inside.

The food at Rancho Tipico was pretty good and AD says it will be even better here. AD is a everything will be better type of guy though.

If everything comes together as intended I think it will likely be one of the few places to hang out in the future but things are always changing in Sosua.

Re: 05/2017 - High Caribbean Disco

It has been said before but what seems to be going on is the powers that be don't want all of the chica activity downtown any longer.

Not sure what they really think will thrive downtown unless the plan is for it to be a bunch of places to eat and continue to push the idea of making it more attractive to the family tourist.

The problem I see is that Sosua is not really setup for the family tourist.

Family tourists are going to go to the all inclusives and are not going to find Sosua a very attractive destination

And how many places can there really be to eat in town

There are already lots of options and most are never more than 25% full for the bulk of the time so adding more places to eat doesn't really seem to reasonable

But there is activity continuing at the old Dlatin site that is said is going to be another restaurant.

I don't really see how the current crowd of tourists are really providing adequate support for the current group of restaurants

So if they do in fact close down the bars downtown there won't be much reason to keep hanging downtown other than a short bite to eat and than off to where the chicas are

Funny the last 5 times or maybe more that I have been in Sosua, I have not set foot in clasicos. Keep on thinking I will but always finds something else to do, or other place to go. Really enjoyed the disco at playa chiquita, this last trip first time there in what 9 years or so? Also enjoyed the night I spent in City lights, never really missed Classicos. Guess soon there will be another reason not to miss it!

Rolleyes Re: 05/2017 - High Caribbean Disco

It's been years since I went up to Clasico and I don't miss it. I have not even been into Merengue except to meet friends and immediately leave for 2+ years.... and have not been to "After one" or any after hours place either.

OF course I'm "too old for that shit" and have no interest. I get everything I could possibly ask for either on the beach, walking around town in the daytime, on Facebook or hookups from friends. I'm never without a chica if I want one or 2 or threee LOL

And it's not just Sosua, or Boca Chica or the Capital.... Once you've been and have some numbers and contacts you really don't need to leave your hotel or the beach if all you want are chicas. Does not matter where you are. With a week or 2 notice and some FB ninja skills you can line up more than any human can fuck. Period. With triple redundancy! LOL

If I can do it....and I can....then no one has any reasonable excuse.

In many DR towns, in Jamaica and even up here in frigid fucking Canada!

Or maybe I have some "game" after all!

Well we all know how things go in the DR.

When I was there the end of April he said it would open May 2

Before I left on May 1 he revised that to May 11

Now I am hearing it has been delayed again with no definite opening date.

I think it will open at some point but there seems to be no real pressure by anyone at this point to open anytime soon but I am sure the pressure will increase daily.

My guess is the whole idea of not opening before it is 100% complete will get thrown out in favor of getting the doors open so that they can begin generating revenue.

It seems to me that with the very slow season approaching they will need to get the food service going not that it is necessarily all that profitable to serve food but it does keep the butts in the seats longer.

If you go to Cabarete those bars are not not subject to the earlier closing times

Ad told me point blank that he has agreements that will allow him to stay open and he has little fear of getting shut down again.

But he does seem to think he is somewhat bullet proof against the powers that be.

I guess we will see how it all plays out
Are these "agreements" of the verbal kind or actual signed contractual agreements that dictate the hours of operation for this place?

If just of the verbal kind, they won't carry any weight. If they are signed, I would think that the head honchos from the police, military and City Hall would be the one's whose names are on any document allowing Ad to stay open until 6. And maybe even the Ministry of Tourism as well. If that's the case, then maybe Ad has reason to feel "bullet proof", as you put it.

I guess by being open that late, that could put a severe dent into the after hours clubs in town. So not only taking away the nightlife business of the Strip but the after hours places too.

The one thing I will say about all this is, although I do hope it works out for him, I'll always remember a gringo who ran a successful beach bar and restaurant once told me that Dominicans will allow a gringo to be successful "up to a point", before using whatever tactics to shut them down.

If Ad and his gringo partner become the 2 main guys running what could become a huge cash cow operation, at the expense of many closed down bars on the Strip, how long will it take for jealousy and "bad blood" to manifest itself toward Ad and his partner? It's a small town, people talk, perceptions become the rule and when money that was once spread around to many other businesses from the customers and tourists, gets streamlined into just one business, shit could eventually hit the proverbial fan.

Ad might find himself needing to sleep with one eye open.

Well I kinda inquired about that.

He didn't come right out and say it but I took what he said to mean that there were some formal signed agreements in place and there are lawyers involved.

There are also some silent partners involved in this as well.

I get the feeling that it might be the silent partners who are financing much of this.

But if history is of any indicator I don't think any business is ever completely safe there and even a signed agreement might not matter if the powers that be want things changed

At one point he made reference to someone in power out of Puerto Plata and the desire to get this place open so the people would have somewhere to go if the bars downtown are shut down

And he did say multiple times that City Lights is history once they are open. He clearly has an ax to grind with them no doubt.

But somehow you get the feeling that AD will always have a target of some kind on his back. Pretty hard for him not to have one.

    Yeah right!

You just didn't pack any collared shirts and slacks for doing your John Travolta moves on the dance floor.

Not enough room in your bag for that "dress to impress" clothing after packing all your sleeveless team jerseys and ankle length shorts!
