Are these "agreements" of the verbal kind or actual signed contractual agreements that dictate the hours of operation for this place?

If just of the verbal kind, they won't carry any weight. If they are signed, I would think that the head honchos from the police, military and City Hall would be the one's whose names are on any document allowing Ad to stay open until 6. And maybe even the Ministry of Tourism as well. If that's the case, then maybe Ad has reason to feel "bullet proof", as you put it.

I guess by being open that late, that could put a severe dent into the after hours clubs in town. So not only taking away the nightlife business of the Strip but the after hours places too.

The one thing I will say about all this is, although I do hope it works out for him, I'll always remember a gringo who ran a successful beach bar and restaurant once told me that Dominicans will allow a gringo to be successful "up to a point", before using whatever tactics to shut them down.

If Ad and his gringo partner become the 2 main guys running what could become a huge cash cow operation, at the expense of many closed down bars on the Strip, how long will it take for jealousy and "bad blood" to manifest itself toward Ad and his partner? It's a small town, people talk, perceptions become the rule and when money that was once spread around to many other businesses from the customers and tourists, gets streamlined into just one business, shit could eventually hit the proverbial fan.

Ad might find himself needing to sleep with one eye open.

Definitely something to worry about, unless he bought the building. Even then it's not a sure thing. Ask Frank.

All they have to do is get it up and running and pulling in good money, and there will be no shortage of folks who want to share the wealth.

Grand opening disco High Caribbean

Grand Opening High Caribbean

Finally it will happen, the high Caribbean disco will open on Tuesday 16th of May. Visitors are welcome from 9 PM and the party continues until 5 o'clock in the morning. The past few days the workman did everything in their power to get the disco ready for the grand opening. The ordered furniture and equipment arrived and have been installed. The light show is above expectations and the snow machine also works well. New staff has been appointed and has already been instructed how to welcome the visitors. There are several events planned for the coming weeks. Wednesday evening, May 17, it starts with a foam party. But there are also live band performances for the coming weeks on the program. But on Tuesday, May 16th, the doors of High Caribbean will finally open again after being closed for many years.

Not 100% as the Kitchen is not finished but I guess the pressure to get it open out weighs the idea of being 100% finished

I hope the place is a success. Something new and different should keep things interesting or least give us something to talk about

Whether it's true or not, it's consistent with a lot of what we've been hearing about Ad.

Actually my source is pretty reliable.. he is one of the guys who hangs out with Ad quite often... he told me he is concerned because he saw him arguing already too much with them

Ad is definitely his own worst enemy. Same as Big D. They both are good at what they do, but they just can't get along with anyone (as partners).

Due to some unexpected problems in finishing the interior of the disco, the Grand opening has been postponed indefinitely. As soon as we know more about High Caribbean, we will let you know immediately.
But tonight the opening will not take place.

You define smooth the opening postponed already 2/3 times and partners arguing on a daily basis? wow.. we must have a very different idea about the definition of smooth...

As El Cristo said the issue seems to be problems with the partners not agreeing on some things

I guess those with the main skin in the game are pretty much controlling things right now and does not appear to be any issues with the governmental powers that be at this point

When the partners are fighting this early in the game rarely does it work out very well in the end.

I find it really childish and strange that this is happening. come on.. you already have had issues with your former partner ( at City lights) and you are not capable of finding somebody else to make it work?
For God sake, how difficult is to choose the right partners and or open a new place only when yoiu actually found somebody you get along with....
It's just too bad because this place had the potential to be a great place for us to hang out

It wouldn't surprise me if they let this one (High Caribe) ride the wave of change in Sosua for a bit. A year or so down the line may be a different matter, if it doesn't self implode first.
