10/2018 - What is the latest on entry into the country

Just curious in the latest news on those that overstayed and if they are allowed back in. Before it was never a question if you would be allowed back in because you just paid your overstay fee and that was that.

Now, I am hearing more and more that they are turning away people from entering, however, the reports I am hearing are very vague, like the report I read today (https://dominicantoday.com/dr/local/...gners-in-sept/) it does not say why they turned them away.

Just curious if any body knows anyone or have been turned away at the airport/border.

I was planning on going back to the states for a week, but now I cancelled my trip because I have an apartment here and if they do not let me back in I will loose a lot of stuff.

I have heard some of this as well. Originally I thought it was directed at those who overstay in a big way,,, like years,,,. But now I am not so sure.

Lots of discussion on DR1, starting last may.

    https://dr1.com/forums/showthread.ph...tourist/page73

As with most things in the DR It depends on who you are talking with.

    How long is your overstay?

I have overstayed many times in the past and returned as recently as June,no problem. Those very few that were refused entry probably had other skeletons in their closet other than just overstays. Don't worry about it,just pay the fine and carry on.

Yeah if it was just a few I would not worry so much but they said 7,000 where not permitted to enter last month. That's a lot of people.

I know many snowbirds and more permanent resident types now and haven't heard of a single issue with any upon entering the country. If I had to guess on the 7000......it's either a shady past or.....well, you know.

if you overstay in Jamaica and they pick you up in Jamaica......you are banned for at least a year for reentry into Jamaica
you are never allowed to stay longer than 90 days unless you get an 90 day extension($100us)....you always have to leave by the 180th calendar day
they don't the DR shuffle with fining people for overstaying......wish they would.......but they don't in Jamaica

Many of the Jamaicans I've spoken with seem to have a general disdain for ex-pat's except for the ones they profit from. I just get the feeling there that once you lose your "Tourist" status, you become fair game for malfeasance just like everybody else.

By the time you get a "Watchie-Man" to watch your shit and another "Watchie-Man" to watch the 1st one and a Housekeeper to rat out the both of them while you're living behind a wall with bars on all the doors and windows and dogs to patrol your property at night Gott Daam....I'll just live in the States where I can keep my balcony door open all day and night and never worry about a break-in. Maybe one of those Senior Living joints where they take 1/3 off your gross every month.

I like Nevada for a lot of reasons but I'd never live in Vegas. Maybe Pahrump.

I hear they're building a brand new VA Clinic there.

Montana is beautiful. Flight connections out of Utah (SLC).

Great place for outdoor types. You'll need a snowmobile.
