07/2019 - Boutique Hotel Palacio, Santo Dominigo

    Boutique Hotel Palacio, Santo Dominigo

The Boutique Hotel Palacio is located in the Colonial Zone off El Conde in Santo Domingo

    1.jpg2.jpg

The hotel has a colonial ambiance and everything was very neat and clean. Reception went smoothly and my room was just under $100.00 with taxes.

Not sure if you would say the hotel is girl friendly. I booked for 2 so I did not have to pay for my guest but the hotel allows up to 2 extra guest for $20.00 each.

The bar is nice with mellow music however it is only open from 3-11pm daily. It is a small area with a few chairs and only open to hotel guest.

My room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The WIFI was strong and there was a small mini bar with very few items.

I did not care for the bathroom because there was no normal flusher. You had to use a hose in the toilet after use. I have never seen anything like it before.

There is both a gym and pool open from 9-7pm

those types of toilets have the tank hidden and set into the wall, with buttons on the wall to press for the flush. Looks like the flush buttons are there on the plastic patch on the wall (that is where you access the tank from). Are you sure the hose wasn't the Dominican equivalent of the bidet?

    Restaurant

The restaurant is open from breakfast from 8-10am and for dinner from 3-11pm.

    9.jpg8.jpg

There is an inside dining area and outside dining area for your choosing. On the day I ate my waitress pulled double duty serving as chef and waitress. I had grilled chicken and vegetables that were absolutely delicious. Do not ask me what she did but that was the best grilled chicken I ever tasted.

    10.jpg

There was a buffet breakfast in the morning that was not included like many hotels but it was $7.00US I arrived late so I didn't have much of a selection.

    11.jpg

    Conclusion

I absolutely loved this hotel! It makes a great date location from the bar to the grounds the food and the restaurant. The pool is on the top floor and also provides a roof top view of the area.

The staff was very professional and courteous and it was an excellent location off El Conde. The mini bar wasn't stocked well but you could easily bring snacks from the stores on El Conde if you liked.

I enjoyed my experience and I would definitely return.

Good review Cam. I get the vibe most of those colonial zone hotels are boutique very tourist type places. They dont want a monger dragging in different chicas every day. And too many gringas to give you stink eye

There is an app called Hotel tonight. There is a daily drop in a price for a hotel. When you check the Santo Domingo Hotels the Palacio is always the daily drop. The daily drop today is an $84 room for $44. This room is probably not as good as Cameros but it is a good savings. I ve stayed at the Palacio many times and it's a good place.

This is my hotel of choice when I go to Santo Domingo. I’ve been there 5 times in the last 5 years.

Well when I stayed there last December for 4 nights, I brought in 4 different girls for each night and never had a problem. But then again, each time was after midnight and these girls I picked up were from one of the casas or from the disco/bar at the Jaragua Hotel, so they were dress some what appropriate.

It is older and little run down. But I just like it because of view and location...the bar and pool are nice on 2nd floor...Beds are nice...king...

    Breakfast sucks....lol....food not great.....casino there also..small...

It is higher priced than riazor.....Daniel can get you good deal there for 90 a night all in.....Should be 75 range....

Re: Boutique Hotel Palacio, Santo Dominigo

I did a little recon on hotels with ocean view near Napolianto one day.....

I went into Sheraton...that is right near Pasteur....They are DEFINIETY chica unfriendly....I asked a couple times. the rates are sky high here..talking 200 a night...

I also tried Juagra. I asked the reception there and she seemed to think not a problem. But I wouldnt take that as fact as I have heard in past chica unfriendly...Juagra is steep also...talking 170 a night range...

Riazor and Napoliano are really your best bets. Grey stayed at an apartment type hotel on Pasteur...Its right near Sheraton. Pretty sure that is chica freindly.....Pasteur is dead now....no more casas...so sad....
