    Some airport/airlines (etc) questions

I'm flying Continetal out of Newark to POP (10 days!!!)

Whats the deal with liquids in carry-on these days? Can I get away with small toothpaste, cologne, mouthwash, lotion, etc.? Is there a set liquid amount, i.e. 1 oz, 2oz? Are they still strict?

    Can I take 2 carry-ons & a laptop bag?
Has continental been giving anybody trouble with carry-ons?

How has POP's airport exchange rate been lately? Any where in town been better than most lately?

I assume when I get out of POP's airport, I walk outside and I'll see taxi's, or are guys gonna be approaching me looking for a fare? Are there any no-no's regarding getting a taxi at the airport? Is the standard rate to Sosua still $20?

Is Rocky gonna have enough ribs?

ps I know a lot of this has been discussed already, but I'd like some current feedback.

    Thanks

pack all your liquids in checked in baggage. carry on expensive electrics like your laptop. you can bring 2 checked bags under 50 lbs , 1 carry on and a laptop. dont exchange money at the airport. pay your $20 to get from POP to Sosua and exchange at a bank/cambio.

I dont know how much ribs Rockys has someone else will have to answer that.
    Jimmy owes me a dollar!

3 oz. limit in a clear zip lock bag placed on top of carry-on in the open. I put 3 nips of vodka in the bag and had no problem at Logan or JFK. Beads has the rest.

By the time you get to the door at POP, taxi drivers will be trying to grab your bags and get you to a taxi .....

    Re: Some airport/airlines (etc) questions

I'll address your questions in order:

    1. Yes, trial size liquids in a clear plastic 1 quart zip-lock bag are still acceptable, yes, they are strict.

    2. No, 1 Carry-on and 1 Personal Item (laptop bag, purse, etc.). They will simply will make you gate-check additional or oversize bags, especially if the flight is full.

    3. Airport exchange rate is lousy. If the rate is 33:1, expect to get about 28:1 or 29:1.

    4. As soon as you exit baggage claim, you will see taxis. There is a taxi stand off to the right. Last time I took a cab from there (last November) it was still $20. Some of the drivers know the New Garden as Garden Keti.

    5. Rocky better have enough ribs, or we'll be roasting Bruno. As long as my 9 piece with garlic mash is ready Sunday night, the rest of you guys are on your own.

I'll be there around 2:30 on Saturday.

I'm trying to do this with carry-on only, is that a total of 3 oz. or a max of 3 oz per container? and how about a can of bug spray?

Forget the bug spray, just take a carry on and get out of the airport in 10 minutes.

Yeah that's kinda the plan, but I'm a big guy, and my clothes are big too, so I don't know if I can do 1 carry-on?? I like to have a lot of shirts (I'm a sloppy eater, lol) What to do?

Here's the Continental link for their baggage info...
    http://www.continental.com/web/en-US...E228197CF58BF6

I'm a big (handsome) guy, and a snappy dresser, and I bring lots of thongs....I could never do it without checked baggage...

But also never had any trouble with checked baggage with continental.

POP is a breeze I always bring 1 checked bag and a carry on. Tiny airport your in and out in minutes. the longest wait is for your luggage and that doesnt take long either.

Sorry to Jack my own thread, but, Do I need to worry about chain snatchers, do you guys wear your chains in Sosua? I won't be getting sloppy drunk every night, and I'd feel naked without my chain. ???

Buy your Tourist card at the airport up here. It's $1 more but you'll save in the amount of time waiting on line down there for it.
We surveyed 100 chicas and the top 69 answers are on the board. Here's the question...

    WORDS OF WISDOM ! ! !

When you check in @ EWR and get you boarding pass MAKE SURE you ask them for a tourist card (They WILL NOT ask you if you want to purchase one)

It cost $11.00 US in EWR or $10.00 in the DR (best dollar ya ever spent ! ! !)

If ya party the way I have seen you party then odds are your chain will be fine (do ya sleep with it on (if not, toss it in the safe)) . . .

I have heard of motto's flying by and snatching chains but those stories are few and far between . . . you could just belly bump him and he'd crash . . .

Leave the chain home or add it's replacement cost into your trip budget . . . it will probably make it home . . . but maybe it won't . . . my cam-corder did ! ! !
    Who me ? ? ?
    nahhhh . . . move along, move along . . .

    Re: Some airport/airlines (etc) questions

I bought my tourist card right here in Times Square and I took Continental to POP out of Newark. I was out of the airport in ten minutes. My plane even got there ahead of time. This is my favorite airport in DR so far, you will like it.

Remember to say "Hi" to these guys in the photo on your way out.

Yes, but didn't you make them take all their clothes off and play music before you would put a $20 bill in their tip box?
