Possible, yes, problematic, yes, would I recommend against it, YES!

Go to DR1 and search the archives, there are tons of posts on the escapades of people that have tried or actually accomplished it.

Way too much info available to write up here again...

Re: Furniture, personal items, cars--possible to import to RD?

you may be surprised but its very easy, ill try to break it down best i can

personal items that arent in a package can be sent out, i live in toronto and i know a dominican who will ship out a cardboard box about 3x3x4 for about 150, he also picks it up from your house and gets it delivered just about anywhere you want in the dominican

electronics that are used dont pay and customs such as computers

clothing no duties again all these can be sent over there

for cars its a bit different you can ship it out but will pay for it, if anything you may want to look into buying a second hand car over there, there are websites out there where people advertise cars for sale,

to bring a car in i believe it costs about $4000 US for shipping and to pay the duties for bringing the car into the country and last time i checked a car could only be brought into the country if its less then 5 years old

you can bring a car in and only pay the shipping fees if your a dominican or have residency which allows you to bring a car in without paying duties every 5 years

    hope this help
