Maybe the Hurricane threat will lower the prices.

    OUCH

400-500 is a big nut to give up for the flight. If I may be so bold...what time of the year did you travel?

(I have been to DR in Sept/June/July/Mar/and Nov in different years and never paid more than 320)
And did you order your tickets at the last minute?

I have bitched before but 400-500 would be a good price flying from Florida unless from Miami directly.

PS. Avoid the $5 booking fee, look up your flights on expedia and other sites then go straight to the airline in question and book there.

I grew up in Fort Lauderdale, and I am surprised that the ticket prices would be more expensive than NYC ticket prices...given the fact that Florida is closer to the Dominican Republic.

Yeah should have said unless direct from Miami or Ft Lauderdale. I'm in Tampa = no direct flights = getting fucked on airfare.

After my Nov. trip it will be 8 trips in just under 2 years... I have flown in March, July, August, Sept, November, December... i few of those months twice... I go in Nov ... thanksgiving week which is usually more... and I went dec 26-Dec 30... during christmas week...

The Lowest I paid was $200... that was paying for my friends buddy pass + taxes... the most was about $540... Prices have went down since then and are only this high around holidays or last minute... thanks to competing airlines

That will change, if you can jump on the deals now.

Fly AirTran from Atlanta to Ft. Lauderdale ($59 one-way, maybe $140 with taxes)

Fly SpiritAir from Ft Lauderdale to Santo Domingo ($59 one-way, maybe $180-200 with taxes)

Total shouldn't be over $350 and that would be with bus fare from SD to Sosua.

I'm in between Douglasville and the airport. I work with a LOT of people who live in Douglasville. That place has been booming the past few years!

Dude, I'm trying to fly into Puerto Plata. SD is tooo far! I may try the Santiago route. It's also a WHOLE LOT cheaper!
