    Re: Visa vs Master Card

Most banks now charge a FOREIGN TRANSACTION FEE for c/c transactions overseas. And that is on top of a CURRENCY CONVERSION FEE for CHARGES that are put through as foreign currency. Plus added to that you get a REAL LOUSY exchange rate at the conversion to U.S currency . So credit card transaction in foreign currency should be avoided at all cost. If unavoidable, then at a minimun you should ask that it be put through as a "U.S. CURRENCY TRANACTION" some places do offer that option.

I am wondering what the charges are to use the atm in Colombia?? For Paypal debit cards, the fee is $1. I am pretty sure that it is more when using a foreign atm.

outside of north america and mexico it's $5 per transaction for me.

you should be able to findout from your bank's website what it is for you.

When you can think of yesterday without regret and tomorrow without fear, you are near contentment.
Your opinions are not my problem...

The paypal debit card fee is $1, it's the bank whose atm you're using who may charge an additional fee and/or give you a shit rate. I read on Lonely Planet you should try to use the atms the locals use. In DR, local bank v. banco popular, local bank won for me.

The rate comes from Paypal and there is only 1 fee. I have used paypal about 75 times over the last 2.5 years.

When using the PayPal debit card, in the DR, is it necessary to call PayPal, ahead of time, before traveling to the DR, so your card doesn't get flagged for suspicious activity?

I always take my Capitalone Mastercard to Costa Rica and get cash as a "sale" from Paradiso Casino in the Amon Plaza.
Do the Casinos in SD & Sousa offer this service?

Is this similar to a cash advance? I have a CapitalOne Visa and the APR on cash advances is stupid.

    Re: Visa vs Master Card

    CA$H! It's the wayward mogerer's bestest friend...

....just cuz it has a slit don't mean you can swipe a card through it to get in!

Fuck the room $afe, the safest place for my money is around my waist, in a money belt....NOT the nut sack pouches, neck pouch or ankle jobs either.

Look for something in a 1.5" width, with a zipper 12" to 18" along the interior liner. You can fit 100s 3 to 5 folded over.....I have carried thou$and$ with me and no one can see it.

They come in web belt or leather belt and cost from $7USD to $75USD. Do a google search. Mine is made by Eagle Creek, there are others out there.

    1) YOU always have your money with you. (So if you meet JimmyDR, you can buy drinks)

    2) The HOEs can't get it cuz your belt never leaves your pants...when you go to the shitter or shower, take your pants with you, when you "drop trou" (drop trousers) on da bitch, leave the belt in the belt loops, she can rummage your pockets if your are taken in by the moment.... but they never look at the belt.

    3) You can always go into a shit stall if you need to access ca$h in a public place, and do so privately...

AND if you are unfortunate enough to be robbed in the street, you will only lose what you give them from your pockets...Ladronas won't look at your belt.......

If you need to credit card your trip, do a ca$h advance in the USA, and payback what you don't use in the DR when you get home (yeah right, I know bro....)

    Safe travels

NO its not ran as a cash advance..its ran as a SALE so the fees are as if you bought an item for 1200.00 or ect...his way NO cash advance fees.
