    Palacio Hotel

I stayed at the Palacio Hotel for 8 days in April and it's a great place. It's chica friendly and real close to the action at Conde plaza. The hotel has been completely done over.I paid 70.00 a night (taxes included) for a one bed fairly large room. They also have what they call traveler studios for 60.00.These were prices during the high season and after 4/16 the prices are a little cheaper.
They have internet access in the rooms,a pay internet computer in the lobby and a free parking garage. They also serve breakfast(6.00) and have a small bar as well.
I checked out the Mercure and the Penalba Hotels while I was there and the Palacio is the best deal for what you get...........Acmike

I agree with acmike. This hotel is beautiful! Used to be a former residence and still mantains the colonial aura. Excellant value with rooms going for $60 and up. The cheaper rooms are small but elegant.($60 is including the 10% business rate and 5% discounts for paying cash.) Tell them you are there on business. Very romantic for that speciaL chica or for basic mongering. Chica friendly! Fully stocked fridge, air condition, TV and breakfast on premisis with room service. Computer in the lobby. Free parking in the hotel garage. Very helpful front desk. The main strip for action is down the street. The web site link above now works. THUMBS UP FROM ME!!!

    Hey Acmike

I have been to Napolitano and the Intercontinental.

A non-smoking one-bedroom at the Napolitano cost me around $85 which includes all tax and other charges. This hotel accepts AAA membership cards so you get a discount of around 15%.

This hotel has an outdoor swimming pool (its quite small). Breakfast is included. No internet service. And a massage room on the second floor of the hotel. But there are no special services for the massage.

Breakfast is included and you get a free drink coupon.

This hotel is chica-friendly. I forgot how much you have to pay. I "think" it was 300 pesos.

As for the Intercontinental, a non-smoking one-bedroom costs around $105 which includes all tax and other costs. This hotel does NOT accept AAA memberhsip cards.

This hotel also has an outdoor swimming pool, internet service (only 15 minutes is free). 30 minutes costs 200 pesos.

    This hotel also serves breakfast.

This hotel is a much better upgrade than the Napolitano. So if I were you, I would rather pay the extra $20 per night and stay here.

This hotel is also chica-friendly. But it is quite expensive. I "think" it was around 800 pesos!!! :x

The food here is much better than the Napolitano.

I stayed for two nights at the hotle up the street (Calle Duarte)from the Palacio, on the same side at the top of the hill. Cool management, 1500 pesos per night for double room. Definitelynot as elegant as the Palacio (Istayed there one night), but will do the job. That is a great area . . .El Conde. . . Zona Colonial . . .Malecon.

Nice pictures with your new camera psriches

Not necessary, they are chica friendly as long as you're low key about it.

    Safety

The area around the Palacio and Penabla are safe at night as long as you don't venture outside of the main drag which is Calle El Conde.
Calle El Conde is all you need. There are many stores, retaurants and chicas there. As with anyplace it's important not to flash money or jewelry ect. There are many tourist police there as well.
After 10:00 when the stores close it gets somewhat different there especially at one end where Pacos,a restaurant is.It dark there but you should be fine as long as you use common sense.
At the Palacio and Penabla the girls need government id's called cedulars. The Penabla will only charge you $10.00 if the girl stays overnight.Otherwise it's nothing.
The Palacio won't charge anything. Also at both these hotels if you say your on business you get a 5% discount and if you pay in cash at the Palacio you get another 10% off.

I stayed at the Palacio in November and it was great. I had two different rooms though, one in the inside of the hotel (going right from the reception desk) on ground level. The second room I had was on the 4th or 5th floor in the same building than the breakfast room. The second room was way better and seemed more modern and updated. The hotel is certainly a great deal. I'll probably be back in SD in March and will stay there again.
