    Hostal Riazor (From DR1)

If you want a reasonably priced hotel, try the HOSTAL RIAZOR, I stayed there on my last trip. It is not a 5 star hotel by any means, nor a 4 or a 3. But the rooms are clean, and it is located behind the Jaragua Hotel and Casino which is pretty nice area to be in if you're interested in the night life. It is walking distance to the casinos, pharmacys, shops. My stay ran me $50.00 US a night with all the taxes included. If you're interested in having a pool area, I wouldnt recommend it though, their 'executive' pool is one of those kiddie $100 4 ft pools you would buy a Walmart or something located on the top floor.
Besides that its not bad. Fronk desk people were decent to deal with.

I can confirm that the Hotel Riazor is a nice hotel. I stayed there on my February Trip. The outside decor is beautiful, the rooms are decent....nothing too special and they have small balconies. I like it for the price....but I never knew they had a pool. And yes it is a chica friendly hotel. I had numerous female guests and never had a problem.

Plus the location of The Riazor is very good. Right out back behind the Juragua. You can walk to the Casinos, The malecon, all the gazcue massage places, and even Lapsus, Tabu and Aurora which are only a block away.

There is a restaurant open 24 hours right next door, but EVERY gringo I know that has ever eaten there got sick! At 4 or 5 in the AM many of the Juragua freelancers will be there eating and having one last beer.

Rooms are decent, location is great and the rates are where you want them to be. I recommend it.

Last I heard the rate is now $60 a night. The rooms are nice but keep in mind there is no outdoor area/pool. The location is great, it is located on Ave Independencia right behind the Jaragua casino.

If you want info. on Santo Domingo, I recommend reading Cheeno's reports. They are very detailed

When you can think of yesterday without regret and tomorrow without fear, you are near contentment.

    Hotel Riazor

    Hey guys

I stayed one night at Hotel Riazor. This hotel is right across the street from the rear entrance of the Jaragua Casino/Hotel.

I paid 2,000 pesos for one night and this price includes 26% tax, breakfast, and free internet service.

    Pro's
    • Free internet service
    • Walking distance to the Jaragua casino/hotel, The Girl's House, Tabu, Lapsus, etc.
    • The water pressure (for the shower) is nice and strong.
    • Chica-friendly

    Con's
    • There is very limited parking space. So parking (as well as taking your car out) is a pain in the ass.

    Information of the hotel

Pictures of the entrance. As you can see, there is very limited parking available.

Pictures of the lobby (the computer is where you have free internet access)

Breakfast menu. I woke up too late for breakfast so I did not try it.

Overall, I like this hotel. I would stay here again.

    Re: Hotel Riazor

looks nice but seeing all the prices in US dollars makes me think twice about staying there. Anytime anyone quotes me in US dollars for anything in the DR gives me the idea their a ripoff. I like to see prices in the local currency for the country not someone else currency.
    Jimmy owes me a dollar!

    Cheeno,

Great series of reports on SD, I have to study them all in detail as soon as I have the time – thanks for taking the time to write them.

And keep the good work up!
