Are you talking about Matum? I want to stay there Nov 1st with mi novia because of the pool and being close to downtown, across from the monument...In previous years it has gotten some serious bad reviews (bed bugs, theft in the rooms, shabby, smelly, no hot water)

but just in the last few days I got some decent reviews on DR1, from trusted posters who have stayed there within the last 8 months-

I haven't reserved a room but will walk in and take a look at the rooms and the pool. The word is that it is renovated and better managed. We'll see...

Chicaseeka - have you stayed there recently?? Or do you just hit the Casino??

No, i wasn't talking about Matum. Although i read some of those same bad reviews. But i think that was before the renovations. But i'm not sure.

I was talking about Kukara with the mixed reviews.

I Just hit the casino, I ussually do the Marriott 129.00/night or The Platino and go for a suite a 125.00 night , if you want to splurge, hit the Gran Alamirante 250.00/night

Been to the Kukura a couple of times and the food was good but overpriced. Was at the Montezuma? next door about two weeks ago and the food wasn't as good and the music deafening.
