New Hotel in Puerto Plata back on track :-)

Many of you know that PP Billy was building a new hotel. It is going to be called “Field of Dreams” and is located directly across from Playa Dorado (awesome location with big pool and bar etc). I’ve seen the plans and design and will be a great option (if you know what I mean) for us when we are in the area.

But, over the last six month he has had problems with permits and a few people (like the mafia of Playa Dorado who don’t like competition) that stopped the construction as 25% was done. Okay, now with design changes (and a few greased palms, this is the dr, remember) building is back on track and should be open in three to four month. It should be one “hell” of a grand opening and if driving by stop by and let Billy to show you around.

I can hardly wait :-).

now i know at least what that half-ruin is about, i drive by every day and wodered about the schedule, saying OPENING NOVEMBER 2004'
i guess, its not the last interruption in construction they suffered now.....

A friend of mine is just back and had a look inside. Bejing the guy who was working at Black Beards is now going to work at the Field of Dreams Inn. He was painting the rooms with a first coat that they have been tiled.
The office was floored and a they were hard working inside. They also started to dug the pool and waterfall installation.
I hope to be staying there on my vacation which starts on the 27th of November. Billy is working hard to make that as the opening date. All may not be ready but he promised me a good rate to put up with any inconvenience.

the hotel itself will have to put up a lot to compensate that.

i passed by this afternoon, they are working frantically, still a lot to do.....
the haitian who watched the entrance to the building with a machete said, the rooms were almost completed. they were attacking now the pool, surroundings still look pretty wild, but that will not hold you guys back from bringing in chicas. as long as the beds are ok......
oh, right besides there is a 4-wheel racing track, one guy tried to batter schumacher, at least what noise and smoke concerned.....

Was given the name atlantica but can not find any information.

I've just get an email from a friend of mine who was in POP very recently.

I was in to the hotel construction site when on my vacation in December. The hotel location is 100 yards off the main highway between Puerto Plata and Sosua. Right across from the second entrance to the Playa Dorada complex and the golf course. I stayed at the Puerto Plata Beach resort and while in a nice location wasn't worth the $42.us per night plus the extra they charged when you brought in a friend.

I think the location has some good advantages, 5 minutes to Puerto Plata and even less to the Playa Dorada casinos and golf course. Less than 15 minutes to the airport and 25 minutes to Sosua.

Looking forward to seeing it open and trying it out when I return in February.
