When you can think of yesterday without regret and tomorrow without fear, you are near contentment.
Your opinions are not my problem...
Most of the higher level guys, if not all, have been travelling and "mongering" for a long time.
While one "could" read Jimmy's comment as derogatory, and who knows how he meant it , I believe he simply meant that they have grown and or gone on to try other places. He may have meant that Sosua is a shit hole but considering the number of trips he logged here that would be hypocritical.
Sosua was a great place when I was there. The corrupt President fucked it up. The last President did a pretty nice job getting it back to where it was but, my "Sosua" is long gone.
The peso was at 40, TLNs were 1,500 - 2,000, a taxi from Santiago airport was $24, a RT from NY was as low as $250. I can go on and on and on.
M & M was 400 pesos for a massage or about $12.
You guys kept that shit (sosua) a pretty good secret for a LONG time.
Some of us only knew about santo domingo and BC ( going back to '99 and 2000) .. Sosua came up in conversation in maybe 2003 ? but some of us just said, why bother driving all the way up there. Little did we know. One of my biggest regrets is missing the heyday in Sosua...and I was so close.
