According to Armando Casciati (owner of the Merengue Club, Hotel Sosúa Bay, Victoria Hotel and the casino), Sosúa's new casino should be completed in July this year (at least the ground floor). The complex has been expanded so much that the costs have gotten somewhat out of hand, so some delay in the construction planning means that the costs can be better distributed over the entire year. Every peso that Armando spends on his casino first needs to be earned.
The 'El Nuevo Norte' thinks there's more behind this delay. This digital newspaper reports that an error has occurred, whereby part of the casino is being built on land belonging to somebody else. The owners of this land are apparently demanding USD 300,000 in compensation. The question here is why the owners have only just complained about the error, now that the casino is in its final stages of construction. Shouldn't they have said something earlier, when construction first started?

The problems would undoubtedly have been easier to resolve at that time.
