    Latinos

Latinos was closed for several days as the place went "under". Today I talked with the new people that are going to be running the place. I mentioned that it would be nice if there was actually a place that played Latin music at a level where people could still hold a conversation. Surprisingly I was told that was the plan. Of course the disco in back will be at a deafening level but that is to be expected. I was told they expect to re-open the first of July.

The high end moto rental and bar across from the New Garden has called it quits. That really sucks because apparently all the motos are being stored in my off-street parking area at the apartment. There is still room for me to park but obviously more congested.

La Roca re-opened last Thursday. I stopped in today for the Dominican Lunch Special. Chicken/Pork/Beef with salad, rice and beans was 125 pesos. It was quite good and very filling. My fat ass did not even finish it all.

Thanks for the intel Robert. I just hope they reopen as scheduled, a couple days after I get in town. I have been getting tired of Classicos my last few trips, and have spent more time in Latinos. Without Latinos, I would have to leave Sosua for an alternative disco to Classicos.

    Re: Latinos

As I slowly readjust to the time here on this side of the world, I am getting out a bit more again. Sunday night was very relaxed with Bobby#'s and later with DRdreamer and Sporthobbyist. The later two and I went into classicos, not my usual spot, but was ok b/c wasn't crowded. Good time was had.... Funny note at classico's...... I was at the bar, buying a few drinks and this young lady beside me smiled, and i said hello and struck up a bit of conversation, then all of a sudden it went cold...I asked, is there a problem? did I offend you?...she replies..."no, you just sound too dominican, which tells me your "tocano" (cheap), I laughed and told her my spanish school was the streeets of this country, and she said she preferred to broken spanish, 2 or 3 words... HOLA --- COMO -- ESTAS? kind of gringos!! Instant classic in my book.

Went into WC...straight weekend warriors, times change, the place behind will reopen on thursday of this week i am told. The guy "franklin" who used to run WC will be running that spot now for the haitian owners. Will check this place out, need to find a new place to post up my fat ass.

I tried to do that at the POP bar, across from Latinos, (old el cultivo) where willy "el Chamo" is getting back into business, wasn't bad spot, good locale, chairs at the bar a bit uncomfortable, but the pricing is high, to high for what they want to do.

Pequena Presidente light came out to be 99 pesos after they added the tax in... too high to be trying to compete. Just my opinion, because locale could become a great spot to people watch and enjoy.

Its good to be back, getting into the swing of things.

Good to see you getting back into the swing of things. You belong here!!!

I figured you would be looking for a new home on Pedro Clisante after I spent an hour at Winners Circle one night.

I usually stop for a couple of drinks at POP bar but I find the music to be too much like WC as the night goes on. Two of the camereras were enjoying the demise of Gran Velero/Latinos, they were laid off from there when the new owners took over.

They also told me that Willie is building a disco in the back which he hopes will take some business away from Classico, not sure of the planned opening date.

The Circle of Life on Pedro Clisante continues.

    The story of my life.

I've had girls insist I must be Dominican, because of my Spanish, therefore, I must be cheap.

But it's not a matter of being cheap, it's knowing what a dominican pays to tap that toto.

Welcome to my world! Happened to me last week with a Dominican stripper IN THE US! Didn't want to dance for me because "Dominicanos son tacańos".

The good thing about my "dominican" or "puta" or "calle" spanish, as it has been referred to me as in the past, it is well accepted once you get off of pedro clisante and into the pueblos and barrios and campo's of my segunda hogar!

exactly....... some will never understand that, and that's why the chicas go to Sosua, cause they are getting overpaid...... so why wouldn't they, of course most of the gringos think it is because they love them.

Yeagh, this whole Interaction just proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that these chicas are cooming to Sosua to be OVER paid by the (you fill in the blank) ... amazing.. its no longer to get paid, but hunting for Prey..
Its like these chicas are saying " hey get lost, you are fucking up my gig here, and wasting my time , I'm buzy WORKING Pendejos right now" .
This is what the strip is EVOLVING to ?...chicas hunting for suckers...and if there are enough of them, just like if it were an over abundance of Rabbits in a certain field, the foxes will set up shop there, to dine on them.
The Casinos IN Santo Domingo ,are the only thing even remotely compares. I jokingly used to mention the $300 offers even the fuglies used to throw out to see who bites, but hat shit is really coming to Sosua now.

It is a tourist town. Everybody from the moto guys to the beach vendors to the chicas are looking for suckers. A chica took a moto to my house the other day. When she arrived I handed the moto guy 25 pesos. He looks at me and says 100 pesos. I just shook my head at him and walked away.

A women vendor I know on the beach, talk to every day, and who knows I live here, tried the same shit. I wanted a pair of flip-flops for a chica I was with. She came back with a piece of shit pair and told me 650 pesos. I almost died laughing at that one it was such a blatant and ridicules rip-off.

Why should the chicas be any different?

The prey though thinks that they are actually the hunters and are getting over, they have no idea. But as long as they are happy, so be it. Can't believe how many guys are happily overpaying regularly, which is cool, but then to brag about it, I just don't get it.

It's like buying a fake rolex or something on the streets in NYC and then bragging that you paid $500 US for it or something, when you could have gotten it for a twenty. But hey they are players!

Reminds me of my last night last week. I was with a chick and two other "couples" walking in Puerto Plata. My chick and i were having a conversation ... as usual she was wrong about something and i let her know it in my own unique way, of course .... one of the other chicks blurts out "XXXXX tu novio no parece gringo el parece Dominicano".

You took the words right out of my mouth. Sosua has always existed solely to fleece the gringos. From the family tourists to the mongers.

The only thing that has changed is the type of guy that goes there. The new WW doesn't really care about getting fleeced. So the chicas don't even have to bother with subtlety anymore.
