Hey everyone. I live in Costambar in the Dominican Republic part time and part time in Florida. I have been living here off and on for 6 years and bring a lot of experience and knowledge of the DR. I have traveled extensively all over the island and previously lived in Sosua for a year until I grew a little tired of the scene and needed a little more peace and quiet. Don't hesitate to ask questions I will be happy to answer.

Arriving SD on Friday 19 October for a two week stay. SD will be the main base, but I might get down to Boca Chica for a day or two.

If you're going to be around, give me a holler and perhaps we can meet up. Might be in school during the day to improve my spanish but not certain about that yet.

I'm new here, making my first post. Trying to figure out what the best destination is for a unilingual (English obv.) prospective monger. I might learn Spanish eventually since Latinas are my favorites, but for now I just speak English. Given my tastes and language skills I'm guessing Costa Rica might be the best place to start. Is Sosua as easy for a non-Spanish speaker? Obviously the Philippines would be no problem, but it's a long, expensive trip. Can I get by in Thailand with only English? I'd like to get to Colombia and places like that eventually, but I gather good Spanish is recommended for that.

Very. Your options will be more limited than if you spoke some Spanish but you will still have a great first trip.

Can I get by in Thailand with only English?

Of course. How many mongers visiting Thailand bother to to learn Thai? Less than 1%?

simple answer: no
you can find chicas in cabarete (just like you can find them anywhere in the country) but there's no real 'scene' to speak of there. it's nothing at all like sosua.

Whats up fellas? Im a 28 yr old mongerer thats been to Thailand twice and DR twice (all solo missions). I've spent about 30 days at BB's combined, so I have a few notches on my belt. I cant believe ive never heard of the forum before now.... Anyway, after reading dunedain's trip reports in whole (out -fuckin' -standing by the way) I booked my flight for my 3rd trip. I called Tim and made reservations for 22-24 Oct at BB's, paid for a reservation at FOD from 24-26 Oct ( cant wait for the bikini contest!) and since he comes highly recommended, im about to book the 26th-29th Oct at Rocky's hotel in Sosua .....(my maiden voyage to Sosua Beach) If any board members are in town, I would love to link up and shoot the shit. Dont worry....no newbie tactics from me. Just a lot of chicas and a lotta fun !

Tarzan, Xmendave and myself will be across the street at the sousa suites at that time. I'm sure we will run into you sometime.

I a thankful for any advice of you folks either tips on how to make my idea come true or even advices on how to do it better and getting the best experience possible.
