Rate to 40.50/1 yesterday.
Rate to 40.50/1 yesterday.
Considering that a peso is only about 2 1/2 cents, and the exchange rate varies by Dominican PENNIES you guys expend more effort keeping track of the exchange rate than your time is worth.
I don't get it.
I see guys that stay at places like Blackbeards, and spend more money on gas or taxis to go into town, then they receive as a benefit by doing so.
I guess it's a mental thing.
I live here, and I don't pay attention to it, unless I'm exchanging 5K dollars or more. Even then, the pennies difference is hardly enough to pay for a beer.
If you think it's love try not paying in the morning..

So yesterday, I was sitting in a spot during the afternoon, on Duarte and there is a money change place next door, they were advertising for the US dollar - 40.15; I heard from some other that Caribe Express who normally gives the best rate was giving 40.40 can't say if that is true, I didn't go past there.
So today I am sitting in the same place and today it is 40.25!!! Still don't know what at the Caribe Express.
I think when I first moved to the country it was 32 and change it's almost 6 years, but this helps out a lot if you are getting paid with US dollars, it hurts a lot if you are Dominican and get paid in pesos.
Why should I limit myself to only one woman when I can have as many women as I want?

Oanda has it at 39.9.

Just hope it keeps on going up, it may not seem like much to you, but for me it works out well, since I first moved here, and now when my pension check goes into the bank I receive approximately 40,000 extra pesos a month more now than when I first moved here, it's the same amount in US dollars but quite a difference in dominican pesos, so for me those pennies add up. The unfortunate part is if it starts to go down, then my pesos go down, so I like it when it goes up. But maybe that's just me.
I agree with you, it is absurd to worry about it, especially if only exchanging small amounts, it was just an observation on my part, as I was sitting in a colmado and glanced over since their board was outside on the sidewalk, I didn't even know it was over 40 at the time, but then when I returned the next day, and overnight it went up again, I thought I mention it.
Speaking as an occasional monger ... the only problem I could have with the dollar rising vis-a-vis the DR$, is if it jacks up the DR$ prices for things like food, Presidentes grande, chicas ...
Yayow, Mr. Happy, I appreciate your on-the-spot information. And if I'm at Blackbeard's I'll walk up to Jenny's as usual ... I need the exercise.

Would someone on the ground in Sosua please ask the current rate for CAD, USD, BPS & EUR from the cambios and post them?
Muchas gracias!
