1 US Dollar = 31.41400 Dominican R. Peso
1 Dominican R. Peso (DOP) = 0.03183 US Dollar (USD)
Median price = 30.27000 / 31.41400 (bid/ask)
Minimum price = 30.27000 / 31.41400
Maximum price = 30.27000 / 31.41400
Hey guys!! Thanks for answering my question about exchanging money at the airport.. I guess....... :?
You will not get the best rate at the airport and you can always exchange the money at the hotel that you are staying at.Originally Posted by psriches

I will be wearing my Captain America T-Shirt.
You can pay $15 US for a cab from POP to Sosua.
The rates are posted, just confirm with the driver the amount.
DO NOT let anyone carry your bags!
You can change into $RD at Judy's Cambio.
SUPER SUPER Liquor store also pays a great rate....right near Europa Hotel. If it's late night, the Cigar store right past Harrisons pays a decent rate as well, and has good cheap cigars. I stay clear of the guys changing on the street unless you know one. They do a three card monty with the big bills and little bills!
Bien Viaje!

$RD32/$USD right now
First trip, exchange a few bucks at the airport just to have something in your pocket. 2-3 peso's difference is a small price to pay to have the local currency if you need it.
After that, on subsequent trips, TAKE 2-3000 pesos with you so you have something to work with arriving, and then exchange your money at better rates away from the airport.
Super Super is not buying so they are paying 30-1.Originally Posted by Lechero

I know this sounds harsh but if you are a punk about it they will use the jedi mind trick on you and before you know it they will be carrying your luggage looking for a tip.

C.R.E.A.M. get da Money Dolla Dolla Bill YAAAAAAAAAAAAALL....
Occasional airport scam: When you de-plane, if it comes time to search your luggage, one guy might try to stand in front of you and try to question/talk to you to distract you while the guy behind the counter is opening your bag: Ignore the putz standing in front of you, step around him if you have to, but DON't take your eyes off the guy going through your bag! Fukkin' theivin' bastards are quick and will rob you in a NY minute if you give them 1/2 a chance. Pay 'em a bribe ($5-$10 if YOU want to, but NOT recomended).
Tell the guy that tries to grab your bag "no, gracias" 25 times in a row without stopping (or until he gives up) and just keep walking with it.
Regarding "changing $ on the street"...A guy named "Titti Frutti" is OK (cell: 494-0411), but always got a better rate from "Santiago" (casa: 571-1646)...Did 2K in Feb. @50+:1 with him...no "3 card monty" here...Everyone counts 3 times. And don't be afraid to squeeze these guys. They're used to it. Make believe you are negotiating with a chica! LOL
Good hunting, y "buen viaje"!
