When you can think of yesterday without regret and tomorrow without fear, you are near contentment.
Your opinions are not my problem...
It was, IIRC, a protected historical building....and probably well insured....
Is this happening tonight??
If she is alive, she will fuck.
It started, was first told to me anyway, an hour of so ago...maybe 90 minutes
I'm told there is a lot of smoke
The fire department apparently responded rapidly and the blaze is under control
I think it's also raining which may help a little.
Pretty strange that this is the third fire this year along the strip and all restaurants...
The building is older than a Spanish-American war...
Forbear to judge, for we are sinners all
They had a locals Menu that they gave to us at times over the years.
I remember my first time in Sosua back in 2006, taking a favorita to La Roca and ordering a peppercorn steak well done. The old Sosua that I loved is disappearing.

Walked by the old building yesterday and it is still standing, but it doesn't look safe. Pretty sure in time it will be demolished. The building has a great location. Some of the wood doors and such on the first floor did not get damaged badly, so hopefully someone will save some of that. Things change, but not necessarily for the worse. Maybe something very nice will be built there. The other two restaurants that had fire damage are being rebuilt and will open soon.
these fires sure are Conveeeeeeeenient.... says the church lady..
I always thought it should have been demolished some time ago, as it was in a very run down condition. I figured the owner probably had a very inflated idea of what it was worth though, and was able to sit on it as a non-producing asset. Now my fear is that it will sit as a burned-out shell.
Sosua as the Dominican Detroit?
I think it was several months after Jolie Rodgers was burnt before the owners started to take down the old building. So I don't expect a quick demolition and it does look shabby. Not good for the family tourists this winter... Noticed the Taco place near Flores bar is being gutted. After the original owners sold, that place sure went down hill. That restaurant looks in ugly/bad shape. But other than that I dont' see Detroit here. I used to work in Detroit...It will take a lot of decline to get that bad...LOL
