Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

Man, Santo Domingo sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I was under the assumption that the capital was more for tourists. Is the pricing the same all over or do the larger cities cause the chicas to increase their prices? Not being cheap, just want to get the best bang for my buck, literally and figuratively.
Heed Jimmy's words of wisdom in the previous post. In the most minimalist of presentations he has hit the nail on the head. Some will pay more and some will pay less.
In the beach Ho towns there are freelancers working the track, there are opportunists working the clubs, there are pro's working the casas and there are Chicas in from other locations trying to semi-pro themselves enough money to pay the rent, feed the kids and get their hair and nails done and some new gear and maybe a few nights out on the town for them and their friends. Their goal is to do the least amount of fucking for the maximum amount of payout. Simple.
The Capital is filled with people from all walks of life, holds many legitimate job opportunities for young, educated professionals and offers an entirely different set of challenges and opportunities. I have been a regular on the casa de cita track in Santo Domingo when it was up and running at full steam and it was fun but I met just as many Chicas, if not more who were freelancing on Ave Independencia, around the malecon bars and casinos, in Zona Colonial and at the discos. I have met Chicas at the supermercado, at the local bodega, through friends of friends and sometimes just walking down a random street. That, to me is the beauty of Santo Domingo. You don't need to go where your meetings are choreographed. Many meetings are by chance and happen within a window of opportunity which you never see coming until it's in your lap and then it's up to you to make the most of the situation. Your youth and language skills put you at a far greater advantage than I had in my late 40's without the ability to put two sentences together, back-to-back in Spanish.
You say that you do't want to be a typical "tourist" but I think that you may be selling the experienced "sex tourists" cheap in your assessment. I watched the Italian guys who'd been going there for years when I 1st got there. They dressed casually, moved in stealth and spoke quietly and they pulled the finest Ho's I've ever seen with ease because of their smooth approach. So I emulated them and threw in a little of my own seasoning and my success rate was phenomenal. I made a bunch of trips where I was so busy reconnecting with those I'd met previously that I didn't have time to make the casa runs. I do enjoy the point-and-click of one time encounters with gratuitous pleasure exchanged for coin of the realm but I also enjoy the give and take of interpersonal relationships with young Women trying to find their way in the world who require mentorship and physical support from one such as myself. Sometimes it's a strength and sometimes it's a character flaw. Sometimes it's a gift and sometimes it's a curse.
At my age I find myself more interested in the short term encounter which is unfettered by emotional entanglement and that is why I prefer the beach Ho town with its slow days and fast nights but if I could be your age again I'd be in the Capital trying to taste every fruit in the garden. You'll have to go there and feel the vibe for yourself and then go somewhere else to compare it to. Your choices are for only you to make.
This will be great for the 1 guy that can speak Spanish. He has 2 other guys that don't speak Spanish, what about them? SD is not much fun if you no speakie any Spannie. Jesus, you guys are replanning this guys trip! Jimmy already has him dumping his friends for new guys!!!
OP, you've been given some good advice......on sticking to your plan. If you want, try one night in SD to see if you like it. Even yayow has advised you to head to Sosua. Make it easy on your buddies. Shoot and click for chicas.
IMO
Thanks for all the input guys. I think the best option is too spend at least a day or two in the capital. And the rest in sosua. After this 1st trip I will def have to go solo or maybe link up with a few vets, to see everything the D.R. has to offer.
I had the opposite experience. When I 1st started going to Santo Domingo I spoke no Spanish at all and it was all the fun I was having that inspired me to load Rosetta Stone and put a few words together. That led to a whole new level of fun as I noticed that the Chicas act like they understand you when they want to and like they don't understand you when they want not to so I played the same game.
What the fuck? It all comes down to the numbers when it's all said and done. Skip colors and days of the week and master numbers.
Well as we all know, there are many ways to do this thing of ours, not right or wrong (although fair to say, I have observed many do it the wrong way). From my observations both as a tourist and an ex-pat, and having the opportunity to speak to many; Sosua is probably the best way to get acclimated to mongering in this country because everything there is geared for mongering, especially the hotels and clubs and basic street action. Santo Domingo is not really geared for mongers, it is a big, spread out international city and it is geared towards being that. Having said that, it doesn't mean that mongering opportunities don't exist there. But you need to know where and how to do it there, whereas a place like Sosua it is not necessary to know those types of logistics, because it is all in your face from the moment you arrive.
It was mentioned going to Avenida Venezuela and getting chicas there, we'll that is not as easy as it sounds, no doubt plenty of sexy, beautiful women in those clubs. But without decent Spanish a very difficult chore, and most of those women could care less about your pesos, they have their own, so your approach needs to be different. Can you dance the traditional Dominican dances, if you can't and stand on the wall, and lack spanish language skills well good luck with that. Sure it can be done ........ but is that what you want to do on your first trip, put that much work in, if you don't have to and have a different option.
You can monger anywhere.... you can monger in Bonao, but you are going to have to put your work in, and you will need to be aggressive and not be discouraged by failure on occasion, some guys don't want to deal with that. Most guys who go to Santo Domingo to monger the first time do it for the most part by pipelining prior to their trip vía social media, or simply by doing casas. If you don't mind that, then you will have a good time. Or else you need someone to hold your hand like Grey's son had with him, to show you where to go and how to do it, minus that key individual it can be a daunting task.
Why should I limit myself to only one woman when I can have as many women as I want?

Unlike my Son on his 1st trip, our OP speaks Spanish and anyone not confined to a wheelchair can learn basic bachata in ten minutes. I was with two of my road dogs and the Kid was there with two of his and the 1st night we did the casa run, etc. but I guess we were moving too slow because for the rest of the week the young 'uns were off to the races and they were coming back to the hotel with new recruits 2 and 3 times a day. They hung out by the university, at the malls and he picked up clerk at Radio Shack, a couple waitresses and even ended up making a cabana run with the receptionist at our hotel. All this with no Spanish skills and no bachata skills. That experience was far from me leading him by the hand and more like me standing back in amazement as he and his buddies scooped up one after another fine Dominicana. He preferred dating to P4P as many youngsters do while I prefer to skip the 8 hours of bullshit and get right to it.
Like I said, Santo Domingo is roughly the size of Philly and the big city dynamic only varies so much from one to another. My boy is a South Jersey Kid and Philly is his stomping ground so he was very much at ease with the flow of Santo Domingo and we did take a side trip to Boca Chica but he and his buddies were itching to get back to the capital ASAP because they found our little beach Ho hideaway too slow, too boring for their taste. They were down for the excitement of the big city, the adventure of being in a foreign capital and the thrill of the chase. At their age I felt the same way but nowadays sitting at a table with a beer and watching the Chicas stroll by until I see one that I like suits me just fine.
This is good sounds like your son was a chip off the old block, sounds like he is the exception, someone we can all aspire to be like, just as you are, and we all aspire to be like you as well, because of your wit, intellect, and general knowledge. But as an observer of human nature, and through conversations with many when I lived in the capital, not all their experiences were as exhilarating as your son in the capital as a newbie, whereas many that went to Sosua, on their first reach had a much more enjoyable trip. Just saying. I believe going with the percentages is the best route, but again the ops choice, his trip, his money, his dick, his enjoyment.
Hopefully he becomes an active member here, and provides a trip report, looking forward to hearing his take on things, more knowledge for me, when counseling others in the future.
Actually this was a fun welcome thread, normally don't read them, but when I observed all the posts, I opened it up to see what all the fuss was about. Glad I did it was a nice discussion about something we all experienced at one point or another to get to the point where we now find ourselves. Good to read varying opinions.
