You could be right. You know more than most posting in this thread. But somehow I have never thought of El Flow as part of the "make Sosúa family friendly" campaign (unless you mean "family" in the "Godfather" sense of the word).

wow this seems like its going to be a big deal all around. Perfect excuse to strangle Classicos/Merengue Bar and pull the customers into Latinos/Sosua Life. We still dont have all the facts to determine whats really going on so this all conspiracy but in Sosua as we all know anything is possible.

Hopefully you guys on the ground can keep all of us informed.Luckily we have some great in town intel from guys living there like WickedWillie.

Thumbs Up Re: Raid at Classico/Merengue

JD my brother I must respectfully disagree....I'm going to pretend that I'm an optimist

I believe that this time they killed someone with enough well connected friends and business partners, both in the DR and US, that it will not just get "swept under the rug". The victim was big time and the case high profile...and the trail of bread crumbs pretty obvious. So much so that when looking at the bigger picture something will have to be done.

Whether the actual shooter, and/or the brains behind it all, gets nailed is another matter entirely but more than usual will be done, more seemingly accomplished and some kind of justice will also be done.

As a whole it is too big to be ignored AND it's a perfect vehicle,to be taken advantage of, for a few subplots/other matters to be furthered along...just wait and see. It's far from over and very "political".

This week it was Great, no problems there as i posted in my trip report today. It was all good there... If something happened it was just after i left for the Airport June 24..

Was there and talking to the barmaid who I befriended a couple of trips ago.She was there when it all came down but insisted yesterday that there was "no problems" as far as she knows. She was talking in the "open for business"sense and admits she doesn't know anything about the criminal aspects.

    Re: Raid at Classico/Merengue

I have been told by a very reliable source that the FBI are investigating this crime on the ground here in the DR because they have very little confidence that anything will get done if left to the DR police to solve the crime. This lawyer was very well connected in the US. When the FBI get involved, you know something is going to happen and people are going to fall.

My source said that the FBI came in and took control, they did not ask for it... they DEMANDED it. WOW, I can't wait to see how this is going to end up.

I hope something does happen as far as real convictions of those involved. It will lean things in the direction of not being able to take people out and get away with it so easy.

You are probably both right. The FBI probably demanded and the Dominicans agreed like they agree to any demand, then carried on doing their own thing anyway while mumbling under their breath about fucking gringos who think they own the whole world. Anyone who has tried to get their electricity bill corrected at the office will know how that works.

With the FBI, I think it is the same as prior investigations done by Interpol. However this seems to have more bite that some of the prior external agent investigations (think blue ocean aqualife).

One a side note, good to see you posting again Peter!!!

I don't know how long it has been the same girl but about a year ago, a newbie, Greek kid from Tampa, spent days chatting up the regular cashier. Nothing special, nice friendly girl, a little on the thick side. He stayed and talked with her til closing a couple nights. Finally nailed her his last two nights in Sosua. Told me she was a nice girl, simple and poor. And I seriously doubt he could have pulled that off if she was related to anyone there.
Ah but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now!

LOL, NOT a Puta. Someone tied to the American Consulate. If you knew me, you'd know I don't post rumors or innuendos and I would never give up my source.

In my opinion, I think the cashier girl is kind of hot...yeah, she isn't the prettiest girl in Sosua, but she looks to have a nice personality and is always smiling...personality trumps looks (if two girls are about equal in looks) anyday in my book...

I've got my eye on one of the bartenders in Merengue, She's a little on the heavy side, but she has a great personality and a pretty face...sorry, I ain't mentioning no names....

Take all the dick measuring and chest beating with a grain of salt even from people who work in an embassy. Demanding is not the way these things work in diplomatic relations even for the mighty U.S. of A.

    Re: Raid at Classico/Merengue

High profile people die all the time. The FBI has no such juice in the DR over any other national other than a US citizen. They are a paper Tiger, there to assist only, they didnt take over shit. This is why the rest of the world thinks us Americans are such pricks, we think we have all this juice all over the world when one of our citizens gets himself killed, and thats what this guy did ,he pissed off some people who you dont want to piss off on your best day.
There are places right here in the US where the FEDS are AFRAID TO GO, cause they know it would be ugly and its just not worth the trouble.
Forget that crap you see on TV. You live under this Illusion that some Big daddy is always watching u when in a foreign country. BULL SHIT!. Your life is worth a fraction of what it is here in the US, I dont care who u are connected to it wont bring you back and will not stop the next person from the same fate.

I am assuming the dead lawyer was either a crook or fronting for crooks. Solid citizens don't invest in casinos in the DR.
