Two Police agents are suspects in the murder of UASD law student Abraham Ramos Morel. Ramos was celebrating his birthday and had left his home in Ensanche Luperon at 1am to go to get some food with his father, Silvestre Ramos, and cousins one-year old Genesis Martinez and Diogenes Encarnacion Ramos.
The family claims that Police sergeant Carlos Manuel Martinez German and corporal Elvis Vinicio Montero Jimenez, of the Luperon police station, are responsible. They were driving motorcycle DT, light blue, with number plate A316. Ramos Morel's father explained that they were driving on Pedro Livio Cedeno when two policemen appeared from the shadows and ordered the vehicle to stop. The family said they both shot at the vehicle. "They were not happy to flatten the tires, but they also shot at my son through the back window." Ramos Morel was killed by a bullet wound to the back of his neck. His father told Listin Diario he could not understand why the agents shot at them, because they were driving low speed and the four occupants were visible through the windows of the vehicle.
The Police reported investigating a case of shooting at 4am at Ave. Padre Castellanos near the intersection with Josefa Brea Street in Ensanche Espaillat. Ramos Morel died at Luis Eduardo Aybar hospital. The investigation is being headed by General Manuel E. Castro Castillo, director of internal affairs at the Police.
