Will be making my first trip to DR in Dec. great board and lots of info. Will be staying at FOD. Will checkout passions as well. Can't wait.

You don't say how long you will be here for but I hope you will check out a hell of a lot more than FoD and Passions. You will be like a dog in a street of lamp-posts on your first visit.

Must correct you on one point though. There are no bears in the DR. Did you mean mongoose?

I joined the site a while ago and, after having read some incredible stories and tons of advice, I'm extremely amped up to go. Decided to finally pull the trigger, but my wing and I will be busy until week after Superbowl, won't start our trip until February 4. Both of us are complete rookies (first trip ever, picked DR over Costa Rica) so I really appreciate all the info you guys have posted (and continue to post); I'll put it to good use when we finally get down there, and hopefully run into a few ISOCers and do what's obligated: buy you legends a beer.

Congrats on booking your first trip. You're a young dude and you'll never be the same after you catch the DR fever. You and your wing should have a great time. There will be lots of ISOC brothers on the ground at that time.

I just joined up...I'm from Edmonton Alberta Canada...a well seasoned member on Canadian Adult Fun...I will def check out all of the reviews on site ...but for a start I'd like some ideas for February...for a week..I am 55.. Look 45..slim... Work out..I'm good in the sack...and I am not a cheapskate...I don't mind paying for quality...

If you have been to phillipines and asia before so many times, share a report in the tr section of that group.

People will be more helpful in assisting you with your dr voyage. Otherwise people will look at you as one who takes but doesn't give back to the board.

Just cant wait to goo to dr...i no all the in and out of phillipines..been thier many times... i lived in korea for years...

After all those trips with little spinners not hardened street rats with less than half the hygiene standards why would you want to go to kindergarten for mongors? Once people are seasoned most graduate to Colombia with its beautiful women or go to PI, Thailand and other parts of Asia or all of the above.

I contacted the El colibri for a reservation I think that will be my choice of hotels.
It will be my first trip and I am going solo but after reading the board i think I will be OK

It is a mystery why mongers come to the DR. Two theories I have heard are:
(1) Because there is little chance of bumping into you there.
(2) Because of the irresistable attraction of D'Piero, indisputably the greatest hotel in the galaxy.

Enjoy your trip. Read as much as you can on the boards. So much valuable information that will certainly make your vacation an awesome experience. Paid subscription is the way to go.

I have no plans to go to Sosua. The capital is a cool place now that I have found my New Garden type of Hotel.
