Took Continental out of Newark to Santiago the day before Easter...What's with the clapping when you land? Is that a Caribean thing? Scared me at first, I thought i may have missed something while sleeping during the flight. Lots of Dominicans on the flight going home for Easter...some real lookers. Imigration was a breeze - no problemo, had my 5 dollar bill at the ready but didn't use it. Anybody seen the light skinned bleach blonde cutie at the Santiago airporte? What a doll. Almost looks like a Barbie doll.

Got my first taste of the wild driving before even leaving the Airport parking lot, the guy was passing people in the parking lot...it was a trip! I think 15 usd from airport to Caribe Tours Bus station.

Off to the Caribe Tours station in Santiago...could have hooked up right at the bus station while waiting but I really wanted a shower first...so I blew her off, too old anyways, had to be at least 30, I had something younger in mind. There is a Money exchange at the bus station, had to exchange before I could buy my ticket...The bus was also loaded with lookers...could have hooked up on the bus too...a cute 20something kept turning around and smiling (THAT hasn't happened in about 30 years)...but I really wanted that shower...

I probably won't do the bus ride again, just fly into POP next time. But glad I did it, the scenery inside and out was worth seeing once.

Then a taxi ride to Rockys. No motoconch tho, wasn't quite ready for that yet. I couldn't see getting on one of those with a 35 pound bag flopping around, Of course the motoconch guy argued with me, said "no problemo, no muy grande" I got into the car...

Checked into rockys around 4 oclock. Finally took my shower and it was off to the races...

Yeah, all the moto conch guys want you to ride with your suitcase, I can't believe it. The Santiago bus ride should be done once, doubt I will fly to Santiago again unless it is a a really cheap flight.

SONRISA - She gave me a great big beautiful smile but I clicked too late, then she started fixing her hair. A gorgeous girl with great bod... great pic except for the goofy kid in his underwear!

It's so refreshing to be around girls that enjoy being appreciated, what a change from here in Gringa land.

Judy Judy Judy - my favorita spinner

Bad picture (must have something to do with Rockys rooms!?!) but you can still tell that she's a cutie! First time I met her I kept calling her Jody - she finally went Judy Judy Judy even using the Clark Gable accent. Cracked me up. She claims she didn't know english, but I always wondered with her.

Judy seemed to hang out at the bar under Classicos (Merengue?). She is a cutie, great attitude, wonderful bbbj with lots of sounds & animation, cute personality. The most adorable smile. Was with her three times, first time paid around 1000 dr. Second time we saw each other I gave myself away too quick and she insisted on 1500 dr, she knew I was hooked. Oh well... Still a great deal tho. As much foreplay as you want, cute kid, highly reccomended. She's a sweetie. And you guys stay away from her, I'm in love.

How do you like the mini skirt and pheasant top - I bought em on eBay. She loved them.

PLUTU'S (pronounced Pluto's for you Disney fans)

Now I know some of you guys like to go to the shows where the two raunchy girls muff dive each other, or do it with donkeys or otters or whatever other creature is available - but that just doesn't do it for me.

If you want a REAL show, I reccomend you go to the corner of Pedro Cilsante & Duarte down near the beach and take a seat at Plutus'. Now THAT's a SHOW. Behind the bar is Angelita - a perfect name for this girl, she is an angel. And then there is Kayla - what a body!! What a Face!! And Elby(sp?) - dimples that just wont stop. And they dance the whole time. I would go to Plutu's just for warmup foreplay, and then go find a babe. Natural Viagra!!

The CD boy came around once and I let the girls pick out a CD they liked and gave it to them & they popped it right into the player. It was worth it, boy can they dance!!

No pics, they had heard of the internet. Afraid the pics would end up online - now where did they get THAT idea?? I almost had them talked into it once - two of them were going to stand on either side of the Pluto painting but one got distracted and I lost them...

I would get take-out food and go down to Plutus to eat, have a Presidente, and watch em dance. Great conversation too, although you need to know a little spanish.

That's Santiago in the picture, he's an older motoconch guy who sits at Plutu's and downs rum & cokes. After a few he starts to dance in his chair, doing hip thrusts towards the girls. The girls crack up. It's a riot to watch. Santiagos a real friendly guy, great to talk also.

One nite Santiago had quite a few rum&cokes, he was trying to get Kaylas attention while she was going past him, & he took the back of his hand and just layed it into her lucious cleavage - It definately got her attention - she grabbed an ashtray and swung at his head - and he's going off the barstool backwards stumbling & apoligizing- and she's screaming at him - it was pretty funny - they made up later tho...

Yeah, how did you like the Dominican family right outside your bed window - kids were always screaming about something.. ... I could have lived with it but Marcos offered so I said sure... #3 was much quieter

Marcos should tile the courtyard, put in a hot tub and barbecue pit....

Isn't Ahmahreesa (aka Chiquita) a doll, I was putting the moves on her all week then Ted told me she was happily married, just what I wanted to do, go on vacation and get shot by an jealous husband.....

Out walking around town one day I ended up sitting in the shade across from what looked like a outside bar. La Passions. Thought I remembered reading about but wasn't sure what it was. A dominican came by, sat down and we chatted. He had a two foot machette so I was real nice to him, real friendly guy. Later I walked past Passions, all the girls had on these cute little baseball type uniforms...

Came back latter that nite and had a seat. Asked one of the girls "so what are you girls, a baseball team?" they thought I was pretty funny. or maybe just an ignorant gringo...

the girl I sat down next to turned out to be fairly drunk, or fairly something...which was kinda interesting in a sexy kind of way, hadn't ever been with a drunk girl when I was sober...I had her stand up so I could check out her butt, nice but (no pun) I was looking for a more tiny hieny...tried to get her to sit down, she wouldn't...she liked the butt attention...I had to insist she sit down and remove her butt from my open hand....I didn't feel right checking out the other babes while fondliing her cheeks...kinda like "cheating on the girl whose butt your feeling"...but now looking back I don't think I would have a problem with it next time...multitasking, right? If that's the biggest mistake I made on my "maiden" voyage I'm doing ok??....right??

I moved around the bar and checked on some other cheeks....girls are really friendly there...and most are pretty cute...no heifers...and there didn't seem to be any jealousy when you moved on to the next set of cheeks...picked out a cute spinner and off we went....1000dr for about an hour massage and bbbj, nice place, everybody friendly, room was clean, overall highly reccomended....I'm starting to like this Island...

no pics, sorry, another mistake I made, not taking enough pics...

I do have a video clip treat possibly later in the report....stay tuned for the "Waterpark" chapter...

I believe the regular price is 1000 pesos for an hour massage with a very happy ending that is quite a mouthful! ;)

If you mention ISOC, you get a 100 peso discount, so the total cost should have been 900 pesos.

Now alot of us give the girls a couple of hundred pesos as a "propina" (tip) if they have......how does WSJ3 put it?......"Put their Back Into IT!".

Maybe you paid 1000 pesos and then gave the chica a 1000 peso tip???? (I sure hope not!) . But live and learn! Right?

Nice reporting.....tell us the good and the bad.

Walk past the family laundry and on the left you will see Hotel Casa Cayena a chica friendly hotel. Sorry, I do not understand this reference. I do not eat any sort of meat, let alone calf. Why is my name dragged into this?

Judy Judy Judy - my favorita spinner ...bad picture ... but you can still tell that she's a cutie! ... and you guys stay away from her, I'm in love.

Firstly, you have effortlessly replaced me as the worst photographer in ISOC. Get your act together before your next trip!

Secondly, although this girl is not my usual type (I prefer them dark, Haitian style) I think she is really pretty and very much the type others guys here go for. A better looking version of a girl much pictured here a few months ago whom Jimmy and others drooled over. Why did it take a newbie to bring this girl to our attention? Is there a more sinister reason? Are HQ keeping the best ones for themselves?

... if you want a REAL show ... boy can they dance!!
Eldorob, I'm really warming to you! I am of exactly the same opinion. Of course I come from stuffy, stilted Olde England (and I can't dance a step myself) but on my first visit to the DR the dancing just blew me away! At the end of my second visit I wandered round Puerto Plata visiting the non-tourist bars and the single image that most sticks in my mind from that two weeks is not having sex with any girl (although many of them were just great) but watching a girl with corn rows dancing the bachata on my last evening. (I must be like "Doc" in "The Asphalt Jungle" - any film noir fans in ISOC?)

Good report, thanks Eldorob. I am glad your trip was a success.

Weyland, Pleased to meet you. You got that right, nothing more enchanting then a Dancing Chica, boy can they move! I would sit at Plutu's for hours watching those cute bar maids.

I think I'll take some dancing lessons before returning. Might make it more fun!!

There was one song, it must be a local hit right now, because every time it started up you could just see the girls tense up before starting to work themselves into a frenzy. It went oompah oompah oompah girlchorus girlchorus.... Anyone recognize that? What's the name? OK, that might be hard to recognize that way....

What is Bachata? And what is it they dance in the Discos like Clasicos?

See an old post of mine about my conversion to bachata:

including another reference to my photographic incompetence, which however pales in comparison to yours.

My appreciation of bachata now extends beyond Zacarias, Raulin and Frank (Monchy y Alexandra and Aventura produce a more "pop" and "americanized" version respectively but still good and retaining the root feel) but those three are still my favourites. A highlight of my last trip was attending a Frank Reyes concert with Brooklyn Beas.

I know I keep saying this was a "highlight", that was a "highlight", but that is how I feel about my trips to the DR. Just when I feel it can't get any better, it does! I am planning a - wait for it - eleven-week stay next trip. If I don't get sick of the DR by the end of that I will be hooked for life!

I now have over 300 bachata tracks at home on iTunes. Most of them very routine. Bachata is a bit like the blues or Country & Western (which English people regard as having only one tune) in the sense that the whole point of bachata is to ring the changes on the exact same rhythm and a very limited palette of phrases. This "minimalist" approach is part of the appeal to me. The words can often be sad or even heartbreaking, coming from the miserable lives of the people (similar to the blues) but (unlike the blues) always accompanied by that defiantly cheerful "nodding donkey" spiky rhythm.

The contrast sums up the DR for me. I sit for hours in the north room of my house in chilly, grey England, hiding away from my bitch of a wife, my boss harrassing me on the phone every ten minutes, a headache, eyes sore from using the computer. I play a bachata track, and suddenly I am walking down that shady road to Blackbeards in the bearable heat, with the Haitians lazily hacking at the weeds blocking the draining culvert, and a chica whom I may have fucked two nights before cheerily waving at me from the back of a motoconcho as she goes off duty. Bachata works magic for me.

I have not visited Classicos enough to know what they play there, but most tourist discos seem to play mostly reggaeton, merengue, salsa, or soft-arsed US rock, with only the odd set of bachata. I like Sosua Life, apart from the airy layout and the friendly, unpushy bunch of putas who hang there, because they play mostly bachata.

If you are not sure what bachata is you can listen online to either:

http://www.live365.com/stations/sosualive

The first plays mostly bachata. The second plays slabs of merengue and other music from time to time as well, but if you look at the "Now Playing" list it will state the type of music next to the track title. Anyway, by the time you have heard four or five bachata tracks you will recognise the distinctive sound and rhythm. When you walk round any Dominicans-only area bachata spills out of doors and windows like it has too much life to be contained in a room.

Sorry I cannot help you with "oompah oompah oompah girlchorus girlchorus". Those words do not appear in my dictionary of Latin American Spanish. (You prat!)

You will know a guy called Learningman who frequently posts here. He apparently has nothing to do all day and night but watch the posts and fire off his responses. You might get the impression that he is a regular, decent guy. Don't be fooled. He has a heart of stone. He told me he can't stand bachata! And he wasn't even ashamed to say it!

Saturday (the 15th) and Sunday I was in #4, but Marcos offered to move me to a quieter room #3. I was there the rest of the week. Were you there? I know gddog was there somewhere too but I didn't get to meet him either.

I asked Ted if you were around, and he said that he wasn't sure. I even harrassed a dude staying there who said his name was "Rob". I just knew he was you. Oh well, met a new guy anyway. You probably met him as well.
