Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez, the Archbishop of Santo Domingo, will preside at the International Academic Congress that celebrates the Fourth Centennial of the death of the patron saint of the Latin American bishops, St. Toribio de Mogrovejo. The Dominican prelate will represent His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI at the congress. When Lopez Rodriguez arrived in Lima, he was met by the Peruvian Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriano and the Papal Delegate, Rino Passigato. Lopez Rodriguez will be in Lima for five days and is due to lead a religious procession for the Peruvian saint as well as preside at a solemn mass at the Cathedral. The prelate will also receive the Order of the Sun from the Peruvian government and will be declared a Distinguished Guest of the city of Lima.
