These two lagoons are located in the northeast region and are rich in bird life and unusual marine fauna. Both lagoons, Laguna Redonda and Laguna Limon, encompass a 40 square miles, with an average depth of 470 feet, reaching as low as 690 feet.

The lagoons bottom consists of mud from organic decomposition of mangroves trees, which line the shores here. The Caño Celedonio connects the Redonda Lagoon to the sea.

Bird species including the pied-billed grebe, common gallinula, great egret, roseate spoonbill, northern pintail and black-crowned night heron can be found here. The marine life includes crabs and róbalo and tilapia fish.
