Following a series of meetings with supermarket owners and wholesalers, President Leonel Fernandez says that he has reached a deal that guarantees citizens reasonable food prices. Hoy reports that the President didn't expand on the nature of these deals, but that consumers would start to see reduced prices in the next few days. According to Listin Diario, the agreement involves the government paying the difference between the market prices for foods and the price that is established for the consumer. The President's recently created committee to study the food price situation also took part in the meetings, as well as representatives from El Nacional, Super Pola, La Cadena, Bravo, Plaza Lama, Amigo, Ole, Placita and Carrefour.
