USAID and the Dominican Customs Department (DGA) have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at achieving increased transparency at Customs offices. USAID director Richard Goughnour said that the pilot program has been in place at the Puerto Multimodal Caucedo since February, and that the DR was chosen for this program because the DGA is considered a model in public administration and transparency. DGA director Miguel Cocco says that the Haina offices are of special interest for this project because 75% of revenues come in through there.
