DR should be OK

The food price crisis is affecting the globe as increases in prices are being felt in developed and lesser developed nations, but World Food Program (WFP) country representative Pavel Isa Contreras says that the DR is one of the least vulnerable countries in terms of food price increases because 80% of the foods consumed by Dominicans are produced by the local market. He said that some basic food products like corn and oil are imported, and these have seen the highest price increase. Isa says that in the short term the government should come up with food assistance programs to help people in the lowest income bracket.
