Im getting alot of PM's lately on what i think about the NG and if guys should stay there or not. im figuring its back lash from guys recent bad times at the place...so instead of me keep saying the same things over and over in a PM I'll post it here for all. not that i mind helping guys out via PM i dont mind at all...but i notice the NG question coming up daily...so here goes...
First of all, your in a 3rd world country...let me repeat that for all the guys who like king treatment...YOUR IN A 3RD WORLD COUNTRY. NEVER expect things to operate and work the way they do in the states or in Europe...its two completely different animals....dont go down there expecting Hilton/Marriot like treatment from a 3rd world hotel. when in DR and most other 3rd world places expect the unexpected! the most you can do is be as prepared as possible to offset issues.
http://www.newgardenhotel.net/eng/hotel.htm [ New Garden Hotel is currently going through renovations, so buyer beware you may wake up to loud banging and construction in the early mornings, workers have to start very early in order to get the bulk of the work done before noon, when the sun is at its most merciless]
2nd...I personally feel NG and most other hotels on the main strip in town is absolutely fine for your first few trips. close to the action, cheap, convienent and it allows you to get a lay of the land and a feel for the over all tone of the main drag in town. this past January i made a reservation for a friend at NG, spoke to Wilfried. he penciled him in...i called Wilfried once a week leading up to the trip to keep the reservation confirmed and locked in, everytime i spoke to him we shared a few laughs and he actually told me its good im calling him often to keep things locked in! because willy doesnt do deposit's. anyway my friend showed up to the NG paid, got his key, and had a great stay there....No harm No foul. to all the rookies, please do not be swayed by everything you read on this board..PLEASE! most of the stuff is exaggerated in my opinion, and majority of the times guys have bad experiences as a result of there own undoing...Just my personal opinion, common sense doesnt seem to be common anymore...
3rd...once you've gotten a feel for the main part of town and you want to open up your wings a little and become a real man...:p , start looking into staying at private apts, condos and villas. i stay at the villas...a bit pricier but between 2 and 3 wingmen price ends up being the same you would pay if you stayed on the main drag...this is the place me and my wingmen use http://www.hispaniolarealestate.com/ the business etiqutte here is a bit better than dealing with hotels in town and believe or not even with these luxuary accomadations we still have to confirm our reservations leading up to the trip...they also require a deposit and you and your friends will need to rent a car as the villas are about 10 minutes up the rd. from the main drag.
i must warn you though...the villas are private owned residential property...owned by families with there kids, its not suprising to just see kids coming from school walking around the complex i sometimes have a few laughs with them, there good kids being raised in paradise thats the life ;) ...wild partying, drunken debauchery and naked chicas acting wildly on the complex is forbidden and security WILL come and dig in yo ass for that shit!
Most of the villas are shielded off by bushes and palm trees so you can have modest poolside parties with naked chicas within reason! just keep it grown and sexy  and chicas need there I.D. cards to come into the villa complex with you...make sure they have it, before bringing her back.
in conclusion...the New Garden Hotel and other Hotels in town will be fine your first few times, the best way to keep issues to a minimum is plan and prepare accordingly!

Me and Wilfried have been emailing back and fourth discussing different things, and one of the questions i asked him about was, was there a solution in place to remedy all the reservation issues and this was his response...
