In the last few days, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) has received over 150 resignations from candidates originally nominated for positions in the 16 May midterm elections. These resignations, for unspecified reasons, are from candidates for deputy, deputy mayors and council members. The Elections Director at the JCE told Diario Libre that most of the resigning candidates' names have already been printed on the ballots and cannot be removed. Votes issued to resigning candidates will be transferred to the substitutes registered by their corresponding party.
