Whats the Deal with CockFighting in SD

Anyone got any info or ever been to a cockfight in SD. All I could find was a little info about a place called Coliseo Gallistico de san Martin in El Nueve SD. I guess these fights are mostly on Sundays , was thinking of trying to check one out. Do they mind tourists coming to these fights or is strictly for the locals.Thanks.

I watched a cock fight from my bedroom balcony a week and half ago in Santo Domingo. They happen all over the place. The guy that owns the bodega across the street from the resort raises fighting birds and he's always got one under his arm.

To me "arranging" to watch a cock fight in the D.R. would be like going to NYC and "arranging" to watch a skully game.

I've been to El Coliseo....I was with a "local". It's a rough "sport" and so's the crowd. Basically, it's like those who fight pit bulls here in the USA.

They raise and train the Roosters for death matches, and sometime the "losers" (the human owners), are not pleased with the financial outcome OR when their bird ends up "La especial por manana" at El Rey de Pollo.

If you go, be street smart. (like anywhere else). It's gambling, guns and rum...in a confined space.....I won't be going back anytime soon but then I still think we shoulda covered Mike Vick in rib sauce and let my Rottie work dogs chase him down.

El Captain I feel you on that . I got a Pitbull but would neva fight him.Although Im all about watching some roosters fuck each other up, but then again I eat chicken daily.

You caan find a cock fight by asking a Dominican who works at the local Comado. When I was in Santo Domingo, I hired a local Dominican as a driver who took me to a cock fight. By the way, cock fighting is LEGAL in the Dominican Republic.

There is a coliseo in santo domingo not far from nueve but the name is different. It is BIG business. They have members that pay for assigned parking, VIP treatment etc. Guys that own casinos, hotels discos and major businesses are members. One of the last times I was there Frank Reyes was there betting on the match.

I hapen to be doing business with some guys that are serious business men that are heavliy involved in the "sport" and years ago worked on a project with the vice president of the Coliseo.

Heck I was at gameworks this week also owned by the president of the coliseo and he happened to be there and came over to say hello to myself and my 2 amigas. He sent over a giant margarita for them o the house and at 12:00 when I asked for the bill. . . . .I was told it too was on the house.

Some dominicans do biz at the cockfight like americans do on the golf course. . . .
