View Full Version : Hector Acosta - "El Torito" - 6/15/08 in NYC area

For those that may be interested - Hector Acosta "El Torito" will be playing in two different places this coming Sunday 6/15/08.
Early in the evening he will playing at La Nueva Marina which is off of the West Side Highway in Manhattan near 145th street. It says that things kick off there around 5PM so he will probably be on a few hours after that - close to 7PM I would guess.
After he is done in the City he will be playing at The Crazy Donkey on Route 110 in Farmingdale on Long Island. He supposedly will be going on there around 11PM - Midnight - probably a little later.
I have had the pleasure of seeing in the past 8 months - all in the NYC area - Zacarias Ferreira three times (October, November, three weeks ago), Aventura in November, Frank Reyes in March, Yoskar Sarante in February and El Torito twice - once with Sarante at the Nokia Theater and once with Reyes at Amazura (Jimbo was there) and not to knock any of the others because they are all beyond outstanding but IMHO he gives the best shows and he is hands down the best Bachata singer out there today and that is saying a lot considering all of the others.
It should be an interesting day at work on Monday.
Yeah I saw the flyers for the EL Torito concert floating around at the PR parade last Sunday...but I will be in DR so I cannot attend.

The Crazy Donkey, I know it, use to go there years ago. Looks like I will check it out. It is not a big place tho, wonder what the cover is??

Thinking about it. This is on Monday night correct? I just got back from partying at a place called The Big Phat Pussy Cat lounge off of 3rd and Macdugal in the West Village. A real nice mixed crowd, no cover great band that played it all. Mixed age as well. What time did u say Hector is coming on? I do not want to get there and wait 2 fucking hrs in a mob and not any seats if u catch my drift!

Damn Jimbo.......you must still be feeling it! Sunday night 6/15. They said he is supposed to go on around 11-12 but you know how that works.

I will be there tonight around 10 pm. I will be pissed if I have to wait till after 12 am to see them. Be on the down low when the DR is concerned whoever shows up!!

Jimbo......I was there as well and I guess you were...as was I...a little pissed off because he did not go on until after 0200. I do not know if you stayed that long but after playing a few songs he stopped because he was not happy with the sound system. After about 20 minutes later he returned and played until about 0345.
El Torito was superb as always and the place was packed. Definitely a younger crowd than normal at the Bachata shows I have recently been to. All and all well worth it even with the late beginning.

Hey, I got there at 9:45, and we hung out in the car drinking, I was with the GF and her Colombian amiga. We finalyy got out of the car around 10"30 and talked our way in for 20 a head. Said we were staying across the stree at the Courtyard hotel, and jusrt wnat to have a few drinks. The place got to hopping around 11:30 good selection of music, and we danced and sweated with the crowd. But when 1:30 came around and all I saw were about 10 microphones and no instruments lined up on stage, we decided we had enough and left. I looked for you but never did see u?

Exacto!! We still had a good time tho, the music was great, the place has a nice sized dance floor, and sat nights is Latin night. But for a Sunday eve. they definetly came on too fucking late.

Not what I would call a bust but for a Sunday night it did start way too late. I stayed for the duration and needless to say work was a mess yesterday.
Jimbo - I was up front at the bar right near the stage for the whole night when not on the dance floor. Was it me or was there some absolutely beautiful young Latinas there? It certainly had a bit of a Classicos feel to it with the large number of ladies there.
The music was excellent as Jimbo said and the palace was jumping most of the night.
El Torito was as always outstanding.

I was hanging out at the table just off the dance floor ( no chairs) adjacent to where u were at. It was crowded, but we should have been able to spot each other. I also had ordered some chicken wings near the kitchen area, and than hung out at the table near there as well. I often went outside to cool off. Next event??

I do not know how we missed each other.
The next show? I know that Krisspy is around now but I saw him back in March at Amazura and he would not be someone for me to go and see again.
Hopefully my next show will be one down in DR next month!
