A hearing will be held today at the Criminal Chamber of the National District Court of Appeals on the appeals recourse filed against the ruling that favored former Agriculture Minister Eligio Jaquez, Jose Antonio Fabelo and another 17 people who were accused of fraud in the distribution of 51 greenhouses worth RD$500 million. Diario Libre reports that the case is being heard by Judge Miriam German Brito, and will listen to both parties, including the Justice Department that filed the appeal. This appeals recourse was reassigned by the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), which nullified a previous ruling by another chamber of the same court that ratified the defendants' acquittal.
