An electric sub-station costing RD$130 million will be built on the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) campus by the Dominican Corporation of State-Owned Electric Companies (CDEEE), according to Felix Batista, Director of the State Works Supervision Office. The sub-station will be located near the Tony Barreiro Sports Center in a strategic area that is not very visible. "This is a small sub-station to guarantee that the UASD gets a regular electrical supply, as the new buildings and those that are being built will require a large amount of energy because many areas are air conditioned," explained Batista. The electric sub-station will not affect the environment, according to Batista, who claimed that it would not produce toxic substances or noise.
