The Central Electoral Board (JCE) admitted yesterday that as many as 60,000 voters had been displaced by the "official" voter registration rolls. The JCE offered the political parties a possible solution to the problem with the creation of a "little voter registration list" that will include just those who were moved from one polling station to another without their consent. This "Little List" will allow the voters to cast their vote at the station indicated on their personal identification card, the "cedula". This proposal will be discussed at tomorrow's meeting between the JCE and the delegates from the political parties. Some voters have been moved to different polling stations within their normal districts, but others appear to have been displaced to other provinces. According to Nelson Gomez, the chief magistrate of the administrative branch of the JCE, the election board has no control over the habit of the political parties moving their legions from place to place, or over people who have chosen to move of their own accord. According to Gomez, the voters' displacement was checked by personnel from the Cedula Office, the Voter Registration office and from the JCE's Computer Division.
