"there's a place right off the main highway. If you're coming from the Airport, make a left after the Texaco station onto DR Rosen and in the middle of the block on the right-hand side, it's called Hotel Don Antonio. Manager is a fellow by the name of Obi, he speaks fluent English since he's from NJ. Going rate is $35/night and once he gets to know you well, you can talk him into $30/night.

Now, the place is a bit on the dumpy side with just a 1x double bed but it's got a/c, a nice pool (that is NEVER green with algae), bar with kitchen in close proximity to the pool and all units come with an efficiency/kitchen area. No breakfast included with your stay. He has internet access via a computer terminal in a room near the bar and he was supposed to have wireless setup by now but I never checked my last few trips down. The place mostly has long-term Germans/Europeans staying there and I've had alot of interesting talks with guys from Europe. Germans are a riot!

Anyway, before I settled into a place down in the DR... FoD and Hotel Don Antonio were where I mostly stayed at"

Hopefully he'll answer emails and won't raise room rates if someone asks for a breakfast menu......................

Spent 2 weeks there with a Santiago Lawyer chica there. Varamor has been said to be anti american. Add this place to the list. JMOP

Is the Varamor the one directly behind Chiquita casino? If so, that is a dump. Stayed one day there and i couldnt wait to leave.

Some guys think of a room as a place just to sleep and dont care what it looks like, where i personally need some resemblence of what i am used to living in.

Yes szir, good $35 a night place but it as does the Don Andes has an in crown. Americans, especially non caucasian guest find it very anti social. JMOO

I'm not sure when you stayed there but my wingman (who is non-caucasian) and his friends (all also non-caucasian) stay here regularly and never felt this anti-American/anti-non-caucasian aspect you are describing. Like I stated in my first post, the place is a bit of a dump but it seemed that there were guys looking for cheap places to stay right where all the action is in Sosua. For the price, I don't think you can really beat it. Most places in the $30 range don't have a/c, don't have gated and locked security, don't have internet access, don't give you an efficiency/kitchen area and are that close to the main intersection in Sosua. I would tip the security guard a couple of hundred pesos at the beginning and end of the trip. In exchange, whenever I brought a chica in, he would tell her that she cannot leave unless I escorted her down personally and gave the guard my approval to let her out. This actually helped TLN actually BE complete TLN until the morning because the girl knew she couldn't get out without me.

I put it out there as another option. A cheap option. If you are looking for a "nice" place to stay, I would still go with New Garden or Seabreeze. I am however, one of those 'Americans' that need a/c so, I would spend the extra $10/night here than at Rocky's to have that luxury. As I stated, I do not stay here regularly myself anymore. Although, I do try to stop in occasionally and say hi to Obi over a few drinks, when I am down there.

On my trip back in May I met a monger on the airplane and when we got to POP I offered him and his friends a ride to Sosua.....they were staying at Don Antonio. One of the guys was a regular and stayed there 10 plus times and said that it was a nice place for a cheap price. He said the manager was a great guy and they were paying $30.00 per night.

It needs to feel like home to me as well.

I went there back in 2006 to meet a friend and ate breakast there. It is in a place where you need a scooter to get to from the main road in Sosua. The only thing I like about this place is that they have a bar right at the pool area.

The pool was very large. I enjoyed my stay there.

The bar and pool area were nice. Just the rooms were so small and dingy. At least mine was. Defeintly better value for the dollar in other places over the Voramor. My room had two single beds and to fuck a chica that night, i had to push the two together:(

Yo my brotha, are you talking about Varoama or Don Andreses. The pricing at Don Andres is European meaning that i was charged an extra 2 bucks a day for a TV ( television ) for you Jimbo fans.

The New garden is the only place in Sosua that I will stay at, if I do return, which may not happen until next July.

I went there and got a tour of some rooms. The good rooms (a/c, nice bed, and a stove (really) are pretty decent. The rates are nice and the bar prices are cheap. Never stayed there though.
