A US soldier of Dominican origin, Jose Gomez, 23, was killed by a bomb in Iraq last Friday, an event that has caused sadness in Queens where the young man lived since his birth. Gomez enlisted in the US Army in 2003. According to Diario Libre, he and another soldier died when the vehicle they were traveling in was destroyed by a bomb, as reported by the US Department of Defense.
