More than 2,000 police officers will work with armed forces personnel to guarantee security during the 16 May elections. According to El Caribe, Police Chief Major General Bernardo Sanatana Paez said that the agents have already been selected and he announced that there would be a meeting next Friday at Police Headquarters with regional directors and commanders, to refine details of operations during election day. He said it is normal for police and the armed forced to be involved in these processes to avoid incidents that could disrupt order during the elections.
